Mods please delete this thread. It's out of date. Yup, I did it again. LOL.

Oh no......Look for the California bashers to arrive...with statistics from 1980.....LOL

Actually, Brown's slashing spending had a lot to do with this too, and unlike much of the country, the minority party also had input on California's agenda.

Brown took on the Unions to lower pensions and took on the Tea Party no nothings to raise taxes on the uber wealthy...That with the state redistricting the gerry mandering allowed him to not bow to the 33%...Who had said NO to every tax increase...Certainly California still has challenges but with the 6th largest economy in the world it appears it has much to be proud of of

As we now see regularly by stuff in California that fails there is a huge backlog of deferred maintenance, and the people who are in charge running things rather tend to suck. Massive fires, dam failures, epidemics, you name it.....

California is careening towards a certain hard crash with a wall even if the country at large is able to avoid that fate, which is a date that we will keep, because way too many of us suck now.

Last checked (and that would be 3 weeks ago when I was there) In Silicon Valley alone there were over 500 companies racking up Billions in revenue and business...But keep babbling about a Damn....LOL

What do you think would solve the problem?

If Californians got stoned 24/7 and pretended to support Trump all day do you think that may be a first good step?

The only solution is for the people to demand good government and sound policy.

The people generally have no interest in doing that.

Nor are they generally bright enough to see.

The crash will happen.

I'll re-phrase it for you...I'm jealous and hateful of the success California has had...I hope it crashes

These are people who watch a dam fail because of very bad management but then the government comes back with "It's OK folks, we have got this!" and most everyone losses interest.

Till the next time the government fails, which seems to be happening increasingly often, with often very dire consequences.

One of these times a serious number of California citizens are going to wake up out of their stupor.

Muster the militia!

Still talking about the damn dam?.....LOL

I disagree. California isn't sitting on a real estate bubble and valuations of California/Silicon Valley tech companies are in no way out of line given the current trajectory of corporate tax policy. For example, Apple will save something like $47 billion. If anything, California will once again set the direction for the global economy.

Still waiting for the unfunded pensions to come home to roost....

I speak very fine without your help.

Stop being rude to me.

Especially now that the courts suck so bad that they are likely to demand that the workers get all of the deferred wages promised regardless of the fact that there is not enough money to do so, and that trying to keep this promise will gravely harm the entire society.

Our justice system sucks ass now.

Jerry Brown is an enigma to me. I hated him as Governor the first time. His 1992 presidential campaign had all the charm of a carnival sideshow, but it was amusing. I thought he was freaking awesome as Mayor of Oakland. Then he gets back as Governor and he's been terrible again. Maybe the "peter principle" has something to it, he should've stopped at mayor.

He does seem like a decent and sincere guy, though, and I think that's why he did so well as mayor, he's just... loony.

Note: Born and raised and lived most of my adult life in California, so I am familiar with Mr Brown.

Fires happen every year, they come with the territory. The dam is decades old and maintenance was neglected by both Dem and Rep administrations.

That dam was in good shape when Republicans were in office years ago.

The State had warnings that the emergency spill way was in need of repairs ASAP and they ignored them..

Get your facts straight. Obama is not responsible for the Trump economy any more than Republicans are for not repairing a failing dam infrastructure.

I'll translate:...Obama tried to cause the Dam to break but Republicans saved the day and trump made the Dam great again...Obama should be arrested.......
