Some words have been added since it was first reported......like live, screaming, in front of students.
But either way, it is creepy.

Educational ... and morbid.

Why are people upset over this? If you watch animal planet or nat geo or youtube, you see this sort of thing all the time.

I watch nat geo and animal planet a good bit. I am yet to see the series or show where a teacher force feeds a puppy to a snake in front of children.

You haven't seen Shark week or the one were the Orcas play volley ball with a live seal. Or the video were the children had cleaned up a seal from the Exxon Valdez incident and the Orca eats him right after he gets released while the children watched? You haven't had your biology teacher keep snakes or other predators that eat live prey feed them in front of you? Do people live in bubbles now?

People, in the West at least, tend not to think of domesticated dogs as “nature”. It is of course all cultural but culture matters.

I guess I am an outlier. I encourage my cats and dogs to eat rodents like mice and chipmunks, and mountain lions snatch the occasional dog or cat. How many people actually know how that bacon they love so much comes to be, or the steak on their plate? The puppy was apparently sick and dying, and the turtle was hungry. I just fail to see what the problem is.

Having seen a live demonstration of a snake eating a mouse, I can tell you that it is a very, very different experience to watch in person an animal eat another animal than it is to watch it on a documentary.

A predator eating prey in the wild is not the same as a teacher force feeding a pet to a snake in a classroom. That is a stupid comparison.

As far as a snake eating a rodent that is a different set of circumstances than a puppy. Puppies are widely accepted as human companions and are not used for food. Mice don't have that same distinction.

Hmm...there are owls and hawks in this area that would disagree with you.

That's f'ing horrible!

So your saying this puppy was stuffed down the gullet of the turtle by the biology teacher?

No, but that is what we call "**** happens". It is in no way comparable to forcing kids to watch this nightmare scenario. Those are kids, kids love puppies. Let them be kids for just a bit longer. They grow up soon enough and have to face life's realities.

My children raise animals and then kill them for meat, and have done so since they were about 6. They didn't miss one iota of their childhood. Denying reality to your children is a foolish notion. Children are exceptionally robust and flexible and can handle the vagaries of life better than adults.

So its unpalatable to some, but the facts dont appear to be as horrific as people are making them out to be. According to the reports it was an after school and all voluntary activity and the dog was deformed and dying. Yes...there was apparently some yelping...and it sounds like it was not an exercise in sadism but more a real world circle of life experiment. Probably poorly conceived.

Do you teach them to kill swiftly and painlessly as possible? I doubt it would look anything like being eaten piece by piece by a snapping turtle. Maybe you should get them cut small pieces out the animals while it's still alive. That would be more natural I suppose...

The children were a "captive audience" and couldn't change the channel.
