Emails show Ben Carson chose $31,000 dining set despite denials

Emails show Ben Carson chose $31,000 dining set despite denials - NY Daily News

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

What a colossal farce this administration is.

It would be interesting to know if they knew of the cost of the dining room set before the order and what the cost of other dining room sets would have been. For $31,000 I could have had a new dining room set, carpet throughout the house and built an addition off the back and had some cash left over.

For 31K that dining set better have an auto-suck feature on it.

Trump lies daily, over and over and the GOP, nor his lemming like supporters never, ever hold him accountable for those lies.

Until they do there is NO REASON to expect anyone around him to tell the truth or act in a respectable, civil, honest manner. People who voted for Trump said they did because they were tired of the lying, elitists in DC. But Trump is 100 times worse, yet those same supporters are NOT tired of Trump's lies and the swamp elitists he's surrounded himself with.

This speaks volumes about the Trump supporters. They are just as big as liars and as dishonest as Trump and his swamp is.

This story makes trump look bad....No doubt he'd like to fire this idiot Carson...But he is too busy firing other idiots (who called the greatest ever) so he'll have to spread out the firings...Maybe Carson will just resign, if he is man enough...probably not

Can you imagine Sean Hannity if a Democrat pulled this ****?

Dr. Carson is as entitled to a $31,000 dining room suite paid for by the government as are any of the people whom HUD serves. They can have them too, all they have to do is fill out the correct paperwork and have it approved by the appropriate people just like Dr. Carson did.

It's not Dr. Carson's fault that some people don't want to play be the rules.

:allhail

Ben Carson a lazy doofus that has NO business being the sec of HUD...He will no doubt "resign" shortly....Good Riddance

Dr Carson lives in a house, which makes him eminently qualified to head a government department that deals with houses.

Indeed you probably could - BUT would they be up to the standards that Dr. Carson requires and would the cash you had left over been enough to pay for his first catered lunch to be eaten at his new dining room set?

Maybe $31000 isnt all that unusual for government funiture in DC

And now for the "let them eat cake" moment for Carson...

News that Carson dropped $31,000 in federal funds to swap the old table set out of his HUD suite made national headlines and sparked immediate backlash when it was first reported in February — around the same time the housing agency had proposed stripping more than $6 billion from its affordable housing budget.

Like I said, wrong as it is, nothingburger, and as long as stuff like this slides, expect no improvement in the circling of the drain 'murica is currently doing.

I am thinking we should be more concerned that there is a $31,000 table set on the GSA contract.

Trump supporters are the worst sort of liars, those who lie to themselves. They don't really know what truth is.

This should be a non-issue.

Carson should be a non-issue. Like Betsy DeVos, he's grossly unqualified for the job Trump picked for him.

That's actually a sad thing. Why couldn't Trump have made him surgeon general. Sadly, I think Trump thought Carson's race made him qualified to lead HUD. Public housing is for black people, you know.

Grown man Ben Carson blames his wife for the $31,000 dining room set

Here's Carson's version of events:

"People were being stuck by nails, a chair had collapsed with somebody sitting in it," Carson told the committee.

I'm not sure why Carson's HUD Secretary office sounds like it was firebombed in Afghanistan, but either way, Carson decided to go along with a renovation. He allegedly put his wife Candy in charge:

"I left it with my wife," Carson said. "The next thing that I, quite frankly, heard about it was that this $31,000 table had been bought."

I heard an interview with him today where he said he had no idea of the price, and that he was initially wanting to buy a used / second hand set.

Yeahhhh, riiiight.
