All right. I know I said I wasn't going to respond again on this thread, a thread in honor of Hawking, but I'm a Trump supporter, so I lied. We can do that without sanction.

Other than the obvious question about why you're making this thread about me, did I ever say I was intelligent? I am a fly-over, alt-right Trump supporter. Make of that what you will, but it is not intelligent.

In fact, I despise intelligence. That's why I'm not a fan of Hawking, and that's the only way I can support Trump.

With that, I will leave this thread never to return.

A bright candle has been extinguished.

It was interesting to watch him change some of his opinions in recent years -- start to pull back from AI advancement. He is to be admired, remembered and respected for not only his brilliance, but also for his resilient attitude in the face of an overwhelming disability.

This is truly a sad event.
I hope The Big Bang Theory does a polite and nice tribute, as will the rest of the world.
He was near perfect proof the physically disabled do not need to be put in a corner and fed with a slingshot.

A brilliant mind for sure. He must have known the end was near, given the advanced stage of ALS. I assume he will know more about heaven or afterlife now that he can check it out for himself.

I've never been able to find it on the 'Net, but when Christopher Reeve died, a cartoonist sketched an empty wheelchair outside the Pearly Gates. That's what I immediately thought of when I heard the news. Hawking is free now, and while the world mourns his loss and celebrates his contributions, for Hawking himself I'm glad.
