Looks like we got a new terrorist angle for these days. Reminiscent of Ted Kaczynski but Ted targeted powerful officials.

2 deadly package explosions in Austin appear connected, police say

A pair of package explosions that left two people dead in Austin, Texas, over the past 10 days share similarities and authorities said they suspect they're connected. The latest incident occurred Monday morning; the other on the morning of March 2. In both instances, a resident retrieved a package that blew up when it was opened.

Both packages were not delivered via any mail services and both homes are those of African-Americans. A 17-year-old boy died Monday and a woman was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. Anthony Stephan House, 39, died from injuries in the March 2 explosion, police said. Authorities are looking into whether the incidents could be hate crimes, but as of now there is no evidence the victims were targeted because of their race, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said.

I don't think you'd need Sherlock Holmes to make that connection.

Three explosions. "The incident marks the second reported explosion in the city on Monday and the third in two weeks," and they may be related. https://www.statesman.com/news/brea...-reported-east-austin/2Fhi7i7aSmWoMBS5HHbfeO/

Great more reasons for idiots to think that boycotting online shopping will bring retail back to America. I'm gonna hear about this at work tomorrow. That's for sure.

It sounds like someone delivered them personally, (based on the "no mail service delivered them").
Unless there's a courier company or something that isn't "a mail service"?

This makes me stop and think.

So many times we both order from Amazon and other places and just zip the package open without thinking about it.
If bombers start using Amazon boxes and tape we are doomed.
This is concerning as hell.
I don't think i regularly check for a return address. I see the Amazon box and start cutting.

Great idea! Why don't you start a blog on how to deliver bombs in common shipping containers? There are thousands of copy cats out there who would love to get some fresh ideas from you.

Believe me when I say if they are clever enough to build a workable bomb in a box, they have already thought of that.
...but you can blame me if you want, but not for long.
I will probably be the first victim of "The Amazon Bomber".

(got two unopened boxes sitting in the living room now...and a bubblebag)

Call the Bomb Squad.

But these were not amazon boxes, and amazon has like a million notifications/ways to keep track of your packages. People have to be way more careful about these things.

Is there any relationship between the victims of these three bombings?

A third explosion just happened recently, the target (apparently a 75 y/o hispanic woman) is injured on the way to hospital.

Austin rocked by 3rd explosion in 11 days - ABC News

Edit: OR at least I thought it was recently, apparently 1150 AM in that time zone.

Edit: Also, nota bene beat me to mentioning it, about 75 mins ago.

It looks to me like the FBI needs to start infiltrating white supremacist groups big time. All the targets have been minorities. Austin has become a hotbed of cowardly attacks on blacks and hispanics.

The USPS postal inspector will find out where it was mailed from and work from there.

They were not mailed - the packages were likely left by the perp(s). Don't you read your own posts?

I was reading about that earlier today and it is a 30-45 minuted drive fron me where it happened. The police originally thought hate crime, they backed off from that one but have not ruled it out, but the thing is all of the bombings happened in the same general area, likely meaning a resident of that neighborhood area or someone who formerly lived there is likely responsible.

It does not fit the mo of islamic terrorists, ir any normal terrorists as they usually do such to instill fear and make know even if not singalling out their group who they intended to terrorize. Generally white supremecist groups tend to do the same and leave their message rather than leaving people scrathcing their head at who did it. Organized crime usually does not operate in such a way and prefers to do more precise targetting rather than leaving something that may not hit their target and also cause their target to leave town before they finish the job.

So the big question is who and why, even though this shows no signs of an organized effort, those bombs were highly sophisticated, even the largest terrorist groups would struggle to make one that sophisticated which means the perp was extremely knowledgeable on explosives as well as mechanicincs to create the delivery system trigger. My best guesses would be a lonewolf nutjob, possibly a white supremecist lonewolf nutjob, or a member of a low lying terrorist group that is trying to keep the group under the radar.

It they aren't killing your kids at school they are delivering bombs to your house.

Is this just one crazy world we live in now. Hopefully someone may have a security camera on their front of house.

Sign up for delivery notifications and confirmation with any and all services you can. You can check via text or email to see if you have an official notice of delivery which verifies why there's a package on your doorstep.

I have to wonder if Amazon will offer reward money. Just a thought.

Is it too soon to tell a Unibomber joke?
