Trump Lawyers Seek Deal With Mueller to Speed End of Russia Probe

One way or the other Trump will be interviewed.
But he and his lawyer will not set the conditions or the parameters.
And Mueller does have the clearances needed.

Trump will indeed set the conditions and parameters. Mueller will need to demonstrate that Trump, and only Trump, has the information being sought.

Or a love child.

I'm serious; that nondisclosure agreement included any "paternity" information, lol.

I noticed that. My eyebrows raised up for a second, and then just went back to normal. Nothing surprises me anymore with this administration. Nothing.

His lawyers will go down as the most clueless legal counsel in history.

They should be keeping President Foot in Mouth, as far away from Mueller as possible. There are too many variables as to what Mueller knows, as well the possibility that Mueller might plan to refer to the House Judiciary a case of obstruction of justice anyways, and the likely hood of Trump lying in his interview would just make the case more damning.

And if they think they can bargain with a prosecutor like that, they need their heads examined.

Is this the same legal team that declared that Trump, as chief law maker, is above the law?

If Starr can get Clinton on camera, under oath, about an affair, I think we can see Trump talk about the tidal wave of Russian scandal that's at America's doorsetp.

Attorney's are paid by their clients. They must show they work hard for their client, or their client my jettison them. They should "try" to negotiate a better agreement and interview with Trump. Seems unlikely that it would succeed, he said he'd cooperate and have no issues talking to Mueller. If we're to believe him.

Ploy for his base is all.

Now he can twit and mug the camera saying he's "even tried to make a deal" and they will dutifully post what a political witch hunt it all is and start chanting "lock her up".

lol, the great dealmaker isn't so great at deal-making after all.

One way or the other Trump will be interviewed.

Unless Mr. Trump makes a "Presidential Finding" that it "would be harmful to 'National Security' for him to be interviewed. (The US courts do not have jurisdiction to interfere with "Presidential Findings".

But he and his lawyer will not set the conditions or the parameters.

Only

  1. whether of not he will show up;
  2. whether of not he will answer any questions;
  3. whether or not he will answer questions under oath;
  4. whether or not the results of his answering questions will be sealed because of 'National Security' reasons; and
  5. whether or not Mr. Mueller will be permitted to comment on what went on when mr. Trump was "interviewed"

And Mueller does have the clearances needed.

He won't once Mr. Trump revokes them (well, actually, directs someone else to do so - whether or not the direction is in writing or not).

Oh he can, everything from him wanting to fire Mueller, 1 month in, WH counsel threatened to resign, to his bantering about firing the WH counsel. Mueller has more than enough. To his firing of Comey, to the Russians meeting with campaign officials in Trump Tower, to Flynn's conversations with the Russian Ambassador. And so much more. Then we have what was Prince doing in the UAE, Seychelles. Who was he acting on behalf of?

Trump will not be setting that many parameters. Then again, he can refuse, Mueller's gets a warrant for Trump to appear in front of the GJ and without his lawyers.
People should get it thru their heads, Mueller is not ffn around.
And if you think Trump & his lawyers can outwit Mueller, well I would differ on that.

One thing I wonder on, will Mueller lay Felonies within the Trump Family/inner circle of Campaign/advisors before or after they reach an agreement for Trump to be interviewed.

And Trump won't pay him, back, I heard.

Dumb bastard. He's been Trump's lawyer for years. He should know by now that Trump doesn't pay his bills.

Usually banks want to know WHY you want the loan, and I doubt that Mr. Cohen put "So that I can payoff a 'Porn Star' in order to keep her quite long enough for Donald John Trump to get elected to the office of President of the United States of America." on his loan application.

If Mr. Cohen's bank decides to "call the loan" (and you should actually read your loan documents to see what sort of reasons the bank can use for "calling the loan" immediately), Mr. Cohen's financial situation isn't going to look any rosier than it already does.

PS - I suspect that a State Bar Association might look at "obtaining a loan under false pretenses" as falling within the ambit of its disciplinary authority.

There it is!

Grand slam in one sentence.

What it also suggests is that Trump is hiding.....something(s) and is growing more and more nervous.

Seriously? How often does an innocent man try to make a deal with an investigator....at all?

An innocent man would sit back and watch Meuller make an ass and an idiot of himself, then fire anyone and everyone he wants.

Instead? He's trying to make a deal.

This is going to get really interesting when Stormy starts leaking details...

Well I'm guessing trump was leaking for a while after his affair with stormy.

I'm sure penicillin was his friend...

Do you have a link for that??

You cannot try to play hardball with the special prosecutor without him playing back. I could see Mueller using this to an advantage by simply demanding the interview, and calling the bluff.

Post 57
This is the first I have heard this can be used by Trump.

Trump Lawyers Seek Deal With Mueller to Speed End of Russia Probe

i have a leaked version of the proposed agreement :

the leaked conditions said:
Conditions to talk to (very innocent, believe me, everyone is saying that. and great.) President Trump

1. questions which will be answered :

a. what's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

b. is it hard being great?

c. isn't this Russia stuff bad, awful, and a lie designed by your enemies to overturn the landslide election?

2. the investigation will then end immediately.

3. all findings from the investigation will be sent to Trump Tower Panama Manilla for archiving.

Sincerely,

Don's lawyers

Depending on who you talk to, Trump is either a genius in how he is handling trade negotiations, or a total fool.

He announces a 25% tariff on steel, 10% on aluminum and sends out his flunkies to fill in the blanks all of whom take a hard line - no exemptions. Then, in actually rolling them out he announces "iffy" exemptions for Canada and Mexico IF he gets what he wants on NAFTA.

That may work in New York real estate, they're all criminals and used to liars and cheats, however Trump has created an even bigger mess as now Europe and China are taking an even harder line...because of the exemptions, and have doubled down on retaliation.

Meanwhile in Canada, Ottawa is strangely silent and full of "grace"; not a peep from the opposition and Christina Freeland making media appearances saying nothing but using lots of words. Asked by a very good reporter where Canada stands in trusting Trump, the trade minister flapped her gums, saying nothing more than a very elaborate "wait and see"

Meanwhile, Canada has dispatched its top diplomats to Berlin, Tokyo and Bejing.

Trump appears to have bought himself some time

Its not clear. As a president has the unquestioned right to fire an FBI director, a White House counsel, or a special prosecutor, its difficult to see how he would lack the right to consider taking these steps.

Don Corleone will make you an offer you can't refuse.

Don Trump will make you an offer that nobody can understand. LOL.

Bingo! Trump has nothing compelling to offer.

Trump has no major black staff to drop a dime on other than Carson. Trump has already begun throwing Jewish staff over the side. He'll finger the rest before late summer. That leaves, Niki Haley to sacrifice to Mueller, though I don't think there's anything there.

Here's what he will offer to Mueller: Trump offers to give up his own children and Kushner. That option is not at all beneath Trump.

To fire Mueller- the law is clear- He needs Rosenstein to carry out the execution of the Mueller investigation- He must order Rosenstein to fire Mueller. Rosenstein IMHO, would refuse. Then Trump has 2 choices- buckle under or fire Rosenstein.

Brandt was next in line after Rosenstein, she submitted her resignation & left effective 20 Feb 18. Trump retains the right to appoint her replacement

If he fired Rosenstein, next in line is temp appointed (Brandt's replacement??? Congress needs to approve her replacement, unless it is an appointment made when Congress is in recess) - now would they fire Mueller or themselves be fired? If they refuse, next in line, rinse and repeat.
.
The investigation would still continue under the FBI.
The political repercussions would be immense.

And...? He finds somebody to fire Mueller. End of the day, Trump can fire Mueller. Certainly then, he can consider firing Mueller. Thus, nothing illegal and thus nothing to discuss with Trump.
