Kim Jong Un extending invitation to meet with Trump, official says | Fox News

South Korea is expected to announce Thursday night that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is extending an invitation to meet with President Trump, a senior U.S. official revealed to Fox News.

Just announced that Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un by May.

We all should be skeptical about where this will go but I would hope that all Americans, and everyone in the world for that matter, would at least agree that this is a positive development.

There's another thread on this, he can't lose unless he goes bat **** crazy IMO.

Agreed.....Will trump actually do it?....Or will he call if off?....There is little doubt that South Korea has been putting pressure on the US to dial down the rhetoric.....I hope it happens

Kim is just buying time. The talking heads are all happily chattering as if something real will come out of this. It’s possible Trumps trade talk has unnerved China.

IMO, he’s talking his engineers are working away as we speak. They just need to do to the USA what they always do. We love to talk so we look like we are doing stuff and get all giddy, then back on the rocks we go.

Either he denuclearizes or we take him out. America is more important to US citizens than South Korea.

link? .......

this is nothing more than talk of an invitation to a supposed meeting; that's it

if it happens Kim un will want (1) all sanctions lifted (2) money, money, and more money (3) he WON'T stop with the nukes (4) keep dreaming ...........

Yeah sure....Will you lead the charge?....South Koreans have long been frustrated by the US Military's 65 year occupation.....That may. need to end, will trump be willing to concede that?...Time will tell, your dream of a War will be on hold for a while

I will give credit where credit is due if this pans out the way it's cracked up to be. If so, then meeting crazy with even more crazy may have actually worked. A lot of it also depends on the continuing unofficial back channel negotiations that have been going on in New York City for the past twenty years or more.

The North Korean diplomats in New York “don’t engage in propaganda, they don’t bang on the table, they don’t engage in threats.”

Gee...

In the face of scaling down and possible talks we have intransigence.

When will Americans learn you can't tell other countries what to do? You keep trying and have left a trail of disaster from Vietnam to Afghanistan to Iraq...

I suggest its a matter of the US recognizing they don 't dictate terms any more. I will say this, I will never bet on those nukes going away. You're going to have to learn to get along and play with others

If Trump meets with him, it will be a diplomatic show worthy of a Simpsons show. One guy is an ego driven idiot, the other guy is the greatest golfer that ever lived. You decide who is who.

But, of course, there’s nothing NK has to or should learn.

I believe Kim Jon Un has great respect for President Trump. Former President Obama never even engaged in any formal discussions with the Supreme Leader. Obama essentially treated him like a child.

Like it or not, North Korea is here to stay and President Trump is creating global dialogue.

Well, I do have a hope. It's on Trump now to show he too can sideline the belligerence.... and give for once instead of demanding and taking

Any “belligerence” on the part of anyone who isn’t American you have any issue with?

NK is just buying time so that they can weaponize their nuclear arsenal. Once they have deterrence, there's nothing we can do.

The key to this whole game is China, as usual. Unless China agrees to a military intervention, then no amount of gum flapping by Trump will change anything.

Ah?...If President Obama tried to met he would have been called an "appeaser".....trump will actually have to go forward with any "meeting" before there is dialogue...

We have not yet figured out how to learn from our mistakes.

We don't need this type of isolationist talk. This type of thinking has led us to war and great depressions.

"Great respect?" He called the President "Dotard."

Doesn't sound very respectful to me.

You missed the entire point.

Sorry, not interested in the “blame America first and always” bandwagon. From my view of some of the membership, it seems kind of miserable.

If that was isolationist talk, then so is telling your meth addict neighbor to stop stealing your stuff. Also, the Great Depression was caused by stock speculation and market manipulation, not foreign policy.
