BANGKOK — A Belarusian escort with close ties to a powerful Russian oligarch said from behind bars in Bangkok on Monday that she had more than 16 hours of audio recordings that could help shed light on Russian meddling in United States elections.​

The escort, Anastasia Vashukevich, said she would hand over the recordings if the United States granted her asylum. She faces criminal charges and deportation to Belarus after coming under suspicion of working in Thailand without a visa at a sex-training seminar in the city of Pattaya.​

Ms. Vashukevich, who described herself as close to the Russian aluminum tycoon Oleg V. Deripaska, said that audio recordings she made in August 2016 included discussions he had about the United States presidential election with people she declined to identify.​

That escort is asking for asylum in the US in exchange for the proofs she claims she has. Figure the odds that even if she has everything she says she has, that Trump would EVER allow her to have asylum. All the more he'll make sure she never gets close to America...and if I were a betting man, I'd bet a great deal that if she's not granted asylum, she's not long for this world - Putin will make sure of that.

I'm suprised she's made it this long, I figure she is do to fall down the stairs, slip in the shower, or trip and fall on her spork very soon. Of course the other inmates will testify that she was kinda clumsy so it was bound to happen....
 
It wouldn't hurt for the CIA to pay her a secret visit. Much depends on where the video/audio recordings are hidden. If they exist, are they accessible? I'm sure by now the FSB in Russia and the KGB in Belarus have turned her "places" inside out and searched her digital trail, safe deposit box, interviewed family, friends, and co-workers etc. She certainly can't go back home. Putin or Deripaska will have the Kadyrov Chechens arrange an "accident".
 
Trump would probably block Pompeo. Perhaps MI6 could do the leg work. Beijing might also be interested. Xi has no love of Trump.
 
I think it's entirely possible thatPutin would love her to get here. He wanted Trump to be his puppet, but it was exposed. For Putin's interests, he might be better served by a toppled Trump administration, than with things as they are? Even if it became president Pence, a weakened American government, whatever way it happens favors him.

Ms. Vashukevich took part in a small protest in Moscow last year defending Harvey Weinstein after he faced numerous accusations of sexual abuse. Standing mostly naked near the American Embassy, she and four other women held signs with slogans such as “Hands Off Harvey” and “Harvey Weinstein Welcome to Russia.”

This is the same individual that provided video recording of Deripaska on a boat secretly meeting with a Russian official to discuss US foreign policy. The Russian official left the yacht before docking as to ensure they weren't seen together. Deripaska is the oligarch who Manafort offered to provide intel on the Trump campaign to.

She claims to have 16 hours of audio recordings. She's not just claiming she has personal knowledge to which she can testify. Who is providing those audio recordings is irrelevant.

I'll have to see it to believe it. But it wouldn't surprise me. Trump is a scumbag. He's been linked to sketchiness for his entire life. He's clearly a buffoon and thinks he is above the law.

Did you watch the video the Russian journalist posted to YouTube? It does a very good job of tracking down leads to support the prostitute's claim that she was, in fact, on the yacht with a highly influential Russian official with years of tenured service dating back to the 90's and a Russian oligarch with close financial ties to Paul Manafort. That Manafort worked for several Russian oligarchs in the not too distant past and was in debt to the same oligarch on the yacht is not in dispute.

The point some folks seem to be missing is that this prostitute may well have audio recordings that proves the Russians did, in fact, work to meddle in the 2016 presidential election for the sole purpose of getting Trump elected AND that someone within the Trump campaign was (possibly) very much aware of the plot, i.e., Paul Manafort.

Much of this woman's story checks out. So, it's possible that she has evidence Special Counsel Mueller just may want to review.

Nobody's "believing ... anything at this point." Just like you, we are reading the headlines and offering points of view.

It's true that I can't see any overt American effort to "save" her from her imprisonment as it would not be sanctioned by Trump. But I could see another US-friendly nation's secret services (Great Britain, Germany,Australia, etc.) extricating her with negotiations, then squirreling her away at their embassy, awaiting a Mueller-team interview.
