Looky who the NRA's made their little bitch. Georgia Republicans. These chumps are using political pressure to demand that a company give discounts to NRA members. Talk about an abuse of power. Now watch how Delta responds. I'll bet that they will in turn threaten to move their hub out of Atlanta.

Georgia Republicans threaten to stop Delta tax break over NRA decision

Delta's decision to cut ties with the NRA could cost it a generous tax break from the state of Georgia.

The state's Republicans — including a major candidate for governor— are threatening to kill part of a bill that would eliminate a state tax on jet fuel. If it passes, the provision is expected to save the Atlanta-based airline tens of millions of dollars.

Can't be serious. No government legislature would be so blatant about being in the pocket of a special-interest group, would they? They predicate tax policy on crap like that?
Just when you thought the society was about as divided as it could be, now government lawmakers drive the wedge a bit deeper.

I don't think its too much for politicians to use it as leverage to gain business or move them out but to tell them who to give their discounts to...? I mean holy crap. Perhaps had they said, "We will cut your tax break out if you don't give discounts to Georgians because they are our constituents" but no... it's help this non-constituent entity.

They wont be punishing Delta. They will be raising costs for every airline that flies out of Atlanta, which means it will raise the cost of flying in and out of Atlanta.

Say goodbye to the jobs at Atlantas airport, idiots!!

I had to look..... the state is a "Fire Arm Friendly" State from what I gather and read.

With that the Republicans "known" to be for the 2nd Amendment and that the NRA lobbies and supports. If the "Will of the people" elected these republican officials? Thats the WILL of the people. Just because you think its BS is that YOUR state? One guy gelling Georgians' what they can and cannot do, that lives off an island of CANADA.

The NRA fallout is a show boating move anyways.... if you DONT want to support them thats on you... But for those that do and are mad at those that supported the NRA and then bailed. Well this is the repercussions. You want to align your self politically. Well this is what you get?

If that state is a firearm friendly state the NRA provides benefits to that state. That is the will of the people..... I dont understand what the problem is? Thats was Delta gets for snubbing a lobbyist group?

Airline groups have Lobbyist that fight for things like the Fuel TAX...so they burnt that bridge.....whoops....

I think delta sux for dropping the benefit they gave to the nra and I won't fly on them anymore. What the georgia politician is wrong and he should lose his seat next election for proposing it. The NRA needs to fight it's own battle with delta.

Delta will simply move into another state. Am certain there are other states that would gladly take Delta and all their jobs.

Introducing more costs and turbulence, that was not needed, that we could have avoided....if we were only not so willfully stupid.

You see nothing wrong with politicians using political power to force a company to arrange their company policies to benefit NOT their constituents but to benefit their lobbyists?

God help us if we should have corporations that were multi-cultural, who worked for all of America who tried to support all of America...NOOOOOO, we cant do that these days.

The Tolerance of America is a myth.

Well, isn’t it established Republican philosophy that government officials should tell private businesses how to conduct their corporate relationships?

Casey Cagle is an absolute pile of steaming, human excrement. Every tweet he sends is about sanctuary cities and how we have to get rid of them. He deliberately makes up numbers about murders committed by undocumented people, and his followers lap it up.

What this shows is just how embedded into the Nation's economy that the NRA is.

And the fact that we're hearing about Vanguard type investments in guns;
401(k)s and guns; public pension funds and guns; etc. and guns;

Such a thing as an NRA discount to just about everything to curry favor with
rabid gun owners shows just how corrupt USA capitalism is, and always has been ....

I dont know what you are asking about but I do know that if we had any sense we would call off this civil war while we still can.

my guess :

Delta isn't moving anywhere. Georgia is a right to work for less / fire at will state. companies enjoy being able to treat their employees as poorly as possible.

Georgia isn't going to risk losing the economic activity.

sad to hear.

Do you ever say anything that is relevant to the topic of any thread you post in?

It sorta depends on how you look at it.

here is the thing and I am sure we will disagree... but from me personal view.

1) Georgia is a Fire arms Friendly State?
2) Many Republicans, I.E Georgia is a Republican State?
3) NRA likely Lobbies heavily in the State of Georgia, so they are both influential to both the Government and the People.
4) Delta chose to cut their ties with NRA friendly to the state of Georgia
5) Delta lobbied for this Gas Tax while pissing off the state, the people and the government by their move to distance themselves from the NRA.

So the fall out is the loss of "benefits" or potential loss. THIS again is an option put in by the government through a bill. THE people if they WANT the Tax fuel cut, they can still do it, BUT if its retribution from the lawmakers by the people.

Then the people spoke? NO?

Laws are usually "Lobbied" by the people and BIG paying lobbyist to think that ONLY the NRA is doing seems silly no? Big Phrama companies, medical companies, Tech companies, ALL do the same..... its just headlines due to the needless death of teens by a deranged individual that fell the multiple cracks and failures of an existing system. NOT because the lobbying of a pro 2nd Amendment group.... blame them all you wont it wont fix the problem.

Surely another Southern state close to Atlanta, say yours,
Tennessee, or Alabama has big enough cities to handle Delta ...

Good news. Now I want some action on the child-care subsidy front. That'll be the longest step toward eliminating poverty a government can take, and it needs to happen like yesterday.

The 1983 American Heritage Dictionary defined fascism as: "A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism." Fascism originated in Italy, and Mussolini claims to have invented the word itself. It was actually his ghostwriter, Giovanni Gentile, who invented it and defined it in the Encyclopedia Italiana in this way: "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

Simple breakdown... politicians there to serve constituents. Not the lobbyists.
