Georgia Republicans threaten to stop Delta tax break over NRA decision

Yup, they pulled it out of the bill. I guess it removed tax on jet fuel, so it wasn't necessarily something that only benefited Delta, but since Atlanta was their hub, it was aimed at Delta more than anyone else. I don't really think that these sorts of government gifts of tax cuts are necessarily proper. But they had it going, and the only reason they're withdrawing it is because Delta won't support the political organization they want them to support. I think it's bad and dangerous precedent. I don't think it is proper use of government power to punish private industries for supporting or not supporting particular political groups.

But that's what it is, I suppose. Perhaps they will remove the jet fuel tax once again, but I doubt that Delta will do anything like move its hub because of it.

Petty much where I'm at. I'm not a fan of corporate welfare policies but I'm also not a fan of government withdrawing it as political pressure on a company to force them to benefit their big money bribers...er... donors.

Along with all other airlines...if this doesn't get those ****ers outta office I don't know what will.
Tom Price was a Georgia politician who had to resign from the cabinet.
Nothing but corruption in Georgia.

Stupid is as stupid does. Kiss Amazon HQ2 goodbye Atlanta. Probably a few other businesses who won't be moving there either.

They aren't moving the hub, and I'm not sure why people think that was ever part of the conversation.

At most, they'll shift some of the administrative stuff to another state. I doubt even that will happen. Their gross revenue in 2017 was like 40 billion dollars. They're going to laugh at the efforts of the corrupt Georgia government, and the NRA.

If you look at my original post regarding this subject, you will see that it was in reply to a post to do with Delta threatening to move their hub in response to Georgia's legislation. Another reply post of mine implied how big a cost to Delta that would be, with over 20,000 employees and the hub flights being redirected to wherever. Then there's breaking leases on huge buildings and offices. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think Delta should have gotten the tax break to begin with. But, they have every right to do as they have chosen, though I question what is the business concern in the decision, and the Georgia legislature and Governor are being petty and do whatever the NRA wants them to do.

Your avid use of the capslock key has somehow convinced me.
I thought he made excellent use of his caps key to emphasize his point effectively.

The NRA is not a big money donator. That's not where they get their power from. They represent a huge voting block of people.

From the same site you list they don't even break the top 50 on the donor list.

They don't get their influence from the money they contribute. They derive their power from the voting block they represent. They don't need to buy votes for politicians. They bring them actual voters.

They are number 9 out of 170 in outside spending... aka pac and superpacs
lobbying money ranks 154 of 3,787
Contributions ranks 489 of 18,823

That's all pretty high.
