Nope, we have yet to hear the official excuse - internal investigations can take quite a while. We do know that the shooter stopped on his own, stashed his attack gear and joined the herd of folks exiting the building with police escort. About an hour later, after a drink and a snack, he was arrested about a mile away without incident (by another police department).

My thinking is that if it was only 1 Deputy that is one thing, but 3 Deputies, makes me think they were following
some sort of protocol, and have to be ordered to step away from that protocol.
I think the police waited outside Columbine as well.

Yep, that "do the least possible" policy is what kept the "weird kid", that later became the mass shooter, out of the NICS BGC database allowing him to legally buy 10 guns.

He was suspended, his boss said his job was to advance on any active shooter, that he knew that prior to taking the position.

I don't know about any of you Ken dolls but if you're employed in his capacity you advance at a safe pace, using corners to protect you from line of sight shooting, you can tell by sound how far the perp is from you, if you feel you can't immobilize him from the position you are in, you retreat to a more advantageous position. You keep radio contact with other officers to apprise them of the perps position and if you can tell the number of perps, in this case only 1.

No one wants to die, I for one would be getting into the best possible position for a surprise attack and or slowing his progress as best I could. I'm not looking for a dead hero, but you take action, you don't stand outside allowing children to fend for themselves.

Cruz was banned from the school and not to be permitted entry with a backpack/bag.
Who issued the warning- the school or the Police.
If the Police, they again dropped the ball.
If the school, why was he banned, and why were the Police not informed.
That bans speaks to persons knowing he was a danger.

Where was the Deputy when Cruz gained entry?
