Rubio stands by accepting NRA contributions: 'People buy into my agenda'

You start gun education, holding meetings, and provide an organization for gun owners to get together, and you'd probably get some money too.

So I would be an advertising and lobbying firm for the gun manufacturing industry then.

Washington (CNN)Sen. Marco Rubio defended accepting contributions from the National Rifle Association, telling a Parkland school shooting survivor that the NRA's influence comes from the membership it represents.

Rubio says he'd support legislation blocking 18-year-olds from buying rifles

"The influence of these groups comes not from money," the Florida Republican said at CNN's town hall "Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action" on Wednesday night in Sunrise, Florida. "The influence comes from the millions of people that agree with the agenda, the millions of Americans that support the NRA."

Do you think that Rubio wouldn't have the beliefs he has if the NRA didn't donate to him?

It's hard to cut and paste things that don't exist.

Yeah I have been trying to research this as this popped up in another thread as well.

So basically a Russian Banker that is a life time member with connections to shady dealings may have donated money to the NRA. But its unclear... and being investigated. Money is a little hard to hide these days so they will have their day in court... but as of NOW..... Its just speculation and investigation by the FBI. Similar to the Russia Collusion stories....so does NOT hold too much water.

The point though that I DO ask SO WHAT. Lets say they did, lets say they in fact got $300mill and donated it to trump. HOW in any way does this affect the Florida Shooter, Texas Shooter, Church Shooter, Vegas Shooter, Sandy Hook Shooter.

WHAT did the NRA do that allowed the monsters to commit such heinous crimes? They Lobbied for a Firearm, that These individuals CHOSE to use as their choice of tool? What happens when that tool is gone... Gasoline and fertilizer next right? You keep taking away the tool but never the core problem you will always have tragedy... but yeah lets blame the tool...and NRA a lobbying group... not a terrorist organization cell... jeezus

When 83% of your revenue comes from individuals, wouldn't it be more accurate to call you an advertising and lobbying firm for gun owners?

Do you think that the NRA would be relevant if they didn't have individual donors to fund it?

We'll get truck attacks like in France, or grenade attacks like in Sweden.

Why shouldn't he accept them? The NRA is funded by Americans. The NRA represents the interests of those Americans. Why are Americans not allowed to advocate for their own interests?

The NRA is funded mainly by gun manufacturers like Colt, Smith & Wesson, Remington, etc. It's big business.

My local gun store is so busy that you have to stand in line to get inside. It is a hugely profitable business.

Back to the Sad MOB....

Watching that open debate was frustrating. He walked into the Lions den as RED meat. I am GLAD he did not fully give in to the crowd.

Honestly What does the NRA and their lobbying donations have to do with WHAT Rubio was elected to do. HE was elected for what he stands for and his policies. If they did NOT like him they should not have elected him. This was just an opportunity to VENT and blame someone. Sad part him is it RUBIO or the NRA's Fault?

More reports. 39 visits. 2 FBI tips. Foster parents took him to see a Mental Health Doctor couple days before. An ARMED sheriff @ the school didnt respond.

To take it out on the NRA which is a LEGAL lobbying firm and a duly elected official is Hypocrisy.

YOU dont have to like a lobbying group... and if you REALLY dont like it.... DO something about it.... but do so with facts. NOT scare tactics and a "lynch MOB" mentality....

I kind of have to agree with this. If people decide they don't like what Rubio represents, then they should vote him out and elect someone who does.

It is only going to get worse till what remains of the educated fully functional adult corps make a stand against the Victim Culture rot. We have to start advocating for better, we need to start pointing out exactly how much Victim Culture has been such a disaster and why it has.

So the NRA received $75 million from gun manufacturers for nor reason at all? Where can I apply to receive $75 million from the gun manufacturing industry for no reason at all?

However, this is also a legitimate concern.

False.

So what?

I'm not really sure how you can say that the 17 kids killed in Florida were not victims.

...and the gun manufacturing industry.

And why not. That is WHAT you are lobbying for. If you are INFACT interested and you have the knowledge and the ability to spread the word you are an ASSETS right?

You dont have to LIKE the NRA but what they do is not the cause of the monsters.

A DRONE lobbyist is not a pedophile or voyuer just because they attache cameras to them and SOME people choose to use them in an illegal way.

A Louisville slugger is not a Domestic Violence company because SOME people choose to use it to beat their spouse

So why is NRA a mass murdering Lobbyist group, becuase SOME random person and who know is ANY of them are actual NRA members TO cause the heinous crimes. HELL I wonder if they were members maybe they would have gotten proper training and an environment to release their steam?

Ever wonder Why they are standing in line? It is not what the NRA has said, but a whole lot of Teens and Media is repeating a message over and over, they will not be fooled again.

You missed my edit.
Check snopes or just Google I just did and snopes was first.

It looks like this is still being investigated, and it likely would have been illegal. So, what's your point?

Victim Culture says: "There is never a sacrifice too great towards saving those we call victims, NO SNIVELING!"

I OBJECT

Well Hell just sorta answered my questions

https://www.quora.com/Of-the-last-m...apons-used-were-legally-owned-by-the-shooters

"Information about how the guns were obtained is incomplete, but 248 different guns were used, at least 141 of which were obtained legally and at least 39 of which were obtained illegally; handguns were the most common weapons used, usually more than one, each of which takes about two seconds to reload, making limited magazines (commonly incorrectly referred to as “clips”) a minor inconvenience. None of the shooters were known to be members of the NRA"

The NRA perfectly has the right to take millions of dollars from the gun manufacturing industry, as long as that's clear and we understand that anything coming out of the mouth of the NRA is a commercial for guns. It puts their popular phrase "Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun" into a whole new light: that's a salesman trying to sell two guns.

It looks like this is still being investigated, and it likely would have been illegal. So, what's your point?

Funneling money from a foreign country into a presidential campaign is now legal? Who knew?

Funneling money from a foreign country into a presidential campaign is now legal? Who knew?

No, I said it would be ILlegal. Read more closely. And again, what's your point? Does it change the fact that 85%+ of the NRA's revenues come from individual Americans?
