This whole circular argument is why I feel that parents need to be far more circumspect when it comes to letting their traumatized children become partisan pawns for the media.
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the topic, but damn, parents need to use their supposed maturity and experience to see around corners and anyone could have seen these kids being used for political canon fodder.

I don't work for CNN, nor am I friends with any of the producers at CNN, so, I have heard young Mr. Haab, and believe him...Besides, I don't have to provide you with anything, you are NOT the arbiter of anything other than your own opinion....

Shooting survivor?s father admits email changes in CNN spat | Tampa Bay Times

Last week's televised town hall on guns and school safety has led to finger-pointing by the father of a Florida school shooting survivor and CNN.

The network says Glenn Haab, the father of Marjory Stoneman Douglas junior Colton Haab, doctored emails to push a claim that the network told his son what to say at the forum. Colton Haab backed out of the Feb. 21 event.

CNN denies scripting any remarks and released an email exchange between a CNN producer and Glenn Haab that it says Glenn Haab altered. The altered email was sent to other news outlets, including Fox News.

Haab acknowledges omitting some words from the email but says he didn't do it on purpose.

Business Insider reported Friday evening that, according to CNN, a network producer agreed to let the younger Haab write and ask a question about arming teachers at the network's Wednesday town hall.

But Haab’s father sent the network a long speech that he insisted his son read at the town hall. CNN, citing time constraints, told Glenn they needed Colton to stick with the question “that he submitted.”

When the elder Haab passed along the correspondence between his family and the network to media outlets, Business Insider reported, he omitted the key phrase, “that he submitted.”

Better late than never I guess, it turns out staff and students were informed that morning that there was to be an exercise later that day, involving screaming and the firing of blanks. Goodness, the MO appears again.
 
A bunch of traumatized teenaged survivors without direct observation of the situation have inconsistent eyewitness accounts!? Stop the ****in presses!!

How gullible does someone have to be to be told that's evidence of conspiracy and believe it?

Did you hear it was announced that morning, reported by a teacher and some students that they were having an exercise that day. Such a coincidence.

It certainly did occur. A friend of mine who lives nearby runs at the school track sometimes, and he knew one of the deceased. Another friend of a friend also knew another child killed. Yes it happened.

Only yesterday did I discover that the staff and student body had been advised that morning that a training exercise was to take place that day, with screaming and shouting and the firing of blanks.

POLITIFACT can muster only a "Mostly False" ... and even then they had to try mightily to characterize Trump's actions a certain way to justify their conclusion.
Bottom line ... it would behoove CNN to be careful with their chyrons.
Theirs was the kind of analysis that screams "subjective value judgement seen here".

It's kind of journalism practice that drives me nuts. It's gotten very bad and all too common. You can trust very few of 'em.

In this particular story, it turns out that the father/son lied, and CNN did not. Their credibility didn't take a hit here.

Yes. In this story that's true. If CNN hadn't developed a rep their credibility would never have been in question.
But the chyron was inappropriate.
