[RIP] Billy Graham, evangelist pastor and counselor to presidents, dead at age 99[W:32]*************

Re: {RIP] Billy Graham, evangelist pastor and counselor to presidents, dead at age 99

Someone is mad that a lifetime homophobe's death isn't being remembered as nicely as he hoped. Oh well.

Don’t know if you’re referring to me, but I’m not mad. Nobody can be expected to do anything they’re incapable of.

I knew someone would have a low class comment.

Speaking truthfully about the war criminal, Billy Graham, isn't indicative of a low class comment. Billy was of the caliber, makeup of Hitler.

I'm not going to debate you in a RIP thread. FFS, man.

Why would you wish a RIP for a war criminal? Do you have portraits of Hitler and PolPot on your walls?

How could it not occur to an evil man like Graham that, if he really believed in fire and brimstone, his life was whisking him there as fast as any other deeply evil man?

You're incapable of being mad? I'd go get that checked.

One less religious nutbag in the world.

I have to disagree with you there. He was not religious, but he was a devout Christian. His heart was clearly with the Lord. He is one the really walked the walk, and lived the Word, with sincerity, dignity and passion.

That said, like all men, he was not without fault. But, in my view, the whole man, as I saw him, was a good man. The world would be a much better place with more Billy Graham's walking amongst us.

The journalist David Frost asked the mature Graham what he would want the first line of his obituary to say. “That he was faithful and that he had integrity,” he replied. “And that I was faithful to my calling, and that I loved God with all mind, heart and soul.” Frost wondered if Graham had questions he hoped to ask God in heaven. “Yes, thousands. Many things in Bible mysteries.” He then added, “Some things in my life I would be embarrassed if anyone else saw. I would like God to edit the film.”

Consumate Billy Graham response. Open, honest and with a dash of humor.

Rest in peace, sir.

Re: {RIP] Billy Graham, evangelist pastor and counselor to presidents, dead at age 99

There are so few individuals on Earth who devote the entirety of their life to help humankind to know and love God and therefore be better people and who do it with humility, class, dignity, and without motive of personal gain. Some have estimated his net worth in the millions but nobody has ever confirmed that and I think it doubtful. He did not have speaking fees and did not accept honorariums or love offerings. His organization accepted donations to pay his staff and cover expenses, but he put himself on a modest salary and gave away most of his book royalties. He was a true man of God.

And shame on those who post their political/social hatred here when this is a thread to honor a truly great man.

Greetings, AlbqOwl. :2wave:

He lived the life that he preached, and I don't recall any scandal that was ever attached to his name! He was given a long life - 99 years - and many will remember that he was honest and sincere in saying we all have a choice, and then he stated what he believed was the way we should live our lives! :applaud

R.I.P. Mr. Graham. Condolences to his family and friends.

Yes, and he made a difference. May we all pray that God raises up others like him and that we do not murder them.

I was listening to the radio doing medical taxi service for a friend/relative this morning and they mentioned that he has served a spiritual advisor to 12 different U.S. Presidents. And I was listening to one of his sermons just now in which he had just extended a crusade in one of the toughest venues in the world, attracting tens of thousands night after night.

I don't know how anyone can hear this and not be changed:

Rest in peace, Mr. Graham. You left a good mark on the world. Your family is probably very proud of your legacy.

Billy found out the hard way that he too was only human.
RIP Billy.
