First bolded statement: those who spend quite a bit of time paying attention to the news and to politics would not be swayed...but those who do NOT pay much attention to the news or to politics could indeed be swayed...and there's many millions of Americans who don't have a clue as to what's on the news other than what they happen to see on Facebook while they're texting with their friends. That, sir, is why advertising works - there's always a targeted audience.
Second bolded statement: Feel free to show evidence that any significant number of illegals or dead people voted. And good luck with that! Sure, you'll find lots of voter registration fraud...but that's almost always because someone was being paid to register voters and decided to make up names or fraudulently use other names...and almost never results in fraudulent votes. That, sir, is why voterregistration fraud is a misdemeanor, while voter fraud is a felony. The Right's "illegals and dead people voting" trope is a red herring of the highest order...because there is simply not evidence of such happening in any significant numbers.
And when it comes to felons, personally I strongly support their right to vote AFTER they have - as the old saying goes - "paid their debt to society". Otherwise, if they are not allowed to vote after they have served their sentences and fulfilled their probation, then they, too, face taxation without representation. We once fought a revolution over that, you know....
