According to Miami's CBS4, the fire department is preparing for a mass casualty situation, and the Margate Fire Department estimates as many as 20 to 50 people could be injured.

The NRA will tell us that those gun shots are the bells of liberty ringing and Trump will give his "thoughts and prayers" to the victims. Not doing something about this type of violence is getting old.

God helps those who help themselves. Thoughts and prayers are useless without action. Every time I read "thoughts and prayers" I want to vomit.

America made its choice. Dead school kids matter less than blindly protecting the 2nd Amendment.

I'm pro-2nd but the gun lobby is making it impossible for the government to do meaningful research into this. A mutually amicable solution could be possible but we're not even allowed to look for one.

RIP dead kids. You're casualties of a political war. So are your parents and communities.

Contrary to the hyperbolic BS posted above, my thoughts and prayers to the victims, and I hope the perpetrators are captured or killed quickly.

Today here in WA St., a grandmother turned in her 18 yr old grandson after she read his journal with his plans to shoot up 2 high schools. And since he wasnt sure which one, he tossed a coin.

Not alot of details yet but they took him into custody and he had more than guns, some kind of grenade is one thing the media mentioned.

He also had loads of notes on other shooters and school shootings. Seems to support the idea that they feed off each other, try to outdo each other, are looking for 'glory,' etc.

God bless that grandmother for doing the right thing.

And my thoughts and prayers go out to the families in FL.

wow. mom being interviewed said "my son knows the shooter, his name is nicholas..." and then the reporter immediately cut her off. that could have been dicey.

Another father being interviewed said he has a friend on the responding team and they have an idea of who it is also, but he didnt want to give the name and the reporter also didnt want him to reveal it.

What else is there to say that hasn't already been said about these things?

**** our "kawnstitution", and **** all the possum-eating, deer-shooting, tobacco-spittin, rusty-pickup-truck-drivin, NASCAR-wacthin Bubbas and Jim Bobs who think having the "freedumb" to own 50 guns is more important than innocent lives.

before anyone knows how the shooter or shooters obtained weapons or why they acted the anti gun left wants to blame the NRA. It doesn't matter if its in a state with reasonable laws or ones where the anti gun has passed lots of anti gun laws. People should at least wait until the facts are out before trying to use the blood of the innocents to bash the NRA (mainly due to the type of candidates the NRA supports).

see this proves my point-he has no clue what the background, ethnicity etc of the shooter or shooters is

It's called compassion fatigue. Tired of seeing children die senseless deaths when solutions are available. You can be cruel all you want toward me but it doesn't change the fact that "thoughts and prayers" without action coming from people who have the power to change this are pathetic platitudes and nothing else.

I've seen many die in my day. Doesn't mean I toss compassion and common courtesy out in the street.
