Trump's military parade could cost as much as $30 million

I was being completely sarcastic and actually agree with you. Leaders who need to put on military parades are usually the ones who need to make sure their population understands they can be crushed in nothing flat, or they are trying to show the world that they have the will and the equipment to blow **** up if provoked.

Completely unnecessary.

ha, sorry. It's hard to tell, people actually believe what you posted sarcastically

He was being sarcastic. Even if I didn't know his character, his post seemed very obvious to me.

Another obvious clue would be to look where his political lean is listed under his picture. Where you have declared yourself as "Undisclosed," he has declared himself as "Slightly Liberal." Therefore, the jump to label him a "right winger" is silly.

I really should make an effort to be less "trollish" but I lack the discipline required for that. At this point I just assume most people know I'm a sarcastic asshole.

I'm gonna find a self help book on this.

I've been on this kick, lampooning some of our fine friends on the right. The sad part is, sometimes it sells as genuine. Which is scary. Like really scary.

Yeah, maybe FDR should have sent Hitler a plane full of cash. As long as we were "honoring a deal" that makes it the correct decision, right genius?

Nonsensical replies are nonsensical. You were incorrect. Be a man and own up to your own ignorance. In the future, don't repeat the lie again.

exactly. You keep thinking sending plane fulls of cash to Iran is totally appropriate, the GOP will keep winning elections and dominating government. even trade I'd say.

Why do we keep footing the bill for Trump's ongoing 2020 campaigning?

I hope they arent planning on televising it.

Who would bother watching it, except maybe the family of someone marching?

It would be incredibly boring.

It has nothing to do with being boring. Because Trump wants one, it is political and all the media will be intensely focused on whatever they can exploit.

- This means that foreign media and viewers will compare it to the erect penises on display in North Korea, China, Soviet Union, and apparently France. It won't matter about the size of the country or how those troops are stationed throughout. It will not matter that while American troops constantly train and deploy throughout the world from various separate locations of the country, those foreign militaries are largely concentrated in specific base areas and spend months only practicing just so that they can be put on international display.

- Our own media will seek ways to either glorify Trump (while pretending to glorify the Troops who don't even want to be there), or criticize Trump (while pretending to defend the Troops who don't even want to be there.)

And all at the expense of our Troop who has already earned his honor on the battle field, not seeking it to walk on a highway. It will be televised because the entire world has been made aware of Trump's fascination with standing in front of a marching military (of which he absolutely does not rate). And those in the world who do not watch it (because it will be booooring) will damn sure read all about this or that. It will be embarrassing and our military will be judged on how ragtag it looks as compared to what largely amounts to only a ceremonial military elsewhere.

* And learning to march proficiently is not about marching. It is about instilling an obedience to orders. Marines are highly proficient marchers (with rifles) by the end of Boot Camp and the platoon moves in perfect coordination upon graduation. But Marines move on from that intense training. They join with Marines tha come from other units. They begin actual military training. What only really remains is an ability to be moved from one place to another in formation...and that sense of obeying a command (order). To get ceremonially proficient again, a Marine platoon would have to start focusing on marching for the sake of ceremony. There would have to be an attitude shift from actual training, to stripped down basics. Then that platoon would have to join with another platoon that just practiced for weeks to move slightly differently. Then, with companies. Now, as a Regiment (I'm assuming Trump's thingy would have to be more than a pitiful display of just a few guys). Now toss in the other branches who, not only don't have that basic driven focus to be ceremonial from Boot Camp, but have now learned to march a certain way (with rifles). It would be RAGTAG.

Mulvaney works for Kim Jong-Trump so it's almost a certainty his military-parade estimate is low-balled.

Yes, this is the same Budget Director Mulvaney that took an axe to the administrations 2019 federal budget that eviscerates the State Dept, the EPA, the Weather Service, etc. etc. etc.

One wonders if that includes the extra police presence, street repair, etc., or if it's only the direct military cost.

Whatever, if tRump wants to play with his toy soldiers, let him pay for it or start a gofubdme or something.

How old are you? Not an insult. Just curious how somebody in this country is not aware that our politics swing back and forth between Democrats and Republicans on a regular basis. It is highly foolish to behave as if your imagined little Gold Medal is permanent. And according to what has gone on this year already, November looks to swing again. Given his Presidency and behavior so far, I would also prepare myself for 2020 because if it swings back to Democrats in November (likely), your demagogue's last two years is going to be worthless. That's what happens when you suck in the first two and rely on a GOP that had no plan for repealing Obamacare, display a highly poor judge of character, under a tired investigation, makes bad international and foreign policy decisions, and later showed that he is only capable of passing budgets one month at a time. And massive tax-cuts, which significantly reduced government revenue, wedded to an increase in spending? C'mon...time to start thinking beyond the blind worship.

Another thing...considering that the GOP begged you people not to vote for Trump and is constantly (as a group and individually) at odds with Trump, how do you see the GOP as "winning?" Wasn't it you people who falsely declared that you voted for Trump because he was not the GOP? Now you are all about he GOP winning something that they did not want in 2016? Figure it out. It's getting hard to keep up with the fan club's mood swings.
