White House officials said that they were first contacted by the FBI in the summer about senior aide Rob Porter’s clearance. They also said the investigation was never completed and they did not know the extent of the allegations. Porter stepped down last week following accusations of spousal abuse.

But Wray, testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the FBI submitted a partial report on his clearance in March and that the investigation was completed in July. Soon after, he said, the FBI received a request for a follow-up, which the bureau completed and provided in November. The FBI closed the file in January and then earlier this month, Wray said, the bureau received additional information and “we passed that on as well.”

The WH has taken a shellacking over their handling of this. How and why he was not turfed is beyond comprehension. Having Porter there with all the allegations against trump, it was bound to float to the top.
Then we had Kelly putting out his contradictions- public statements and internal memo. McGahn was also aware, but this lands firmly in Kelly's lap.
And then they have Trump praising Porter. Trump is doing more to get women out to vote Democrat than anyone I know of.

Porter was up for promotion despite abuse allegations

Rob Porter was involved in serious discussions to be promoted when he abruptly resigned from the White House last week amid allegations that he abused his two ex-wives, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.

His anticipated elevation further highlights how top White House officials were willing to overlook indications from the FBI that there were potential abuse allegations in his background in exchange for professional competence in a tumultuous West Wing.

Porter had been actively lobbying to take on new policy portfolios outside the traditional scope of the staff secretary, one person familiar with the matter said, which included speechwriting duties and a role in planning policy rollouts. Neither of those tasks is traditionally carried out by the staff secretary.​

They could have literally said anything else knowing that Wray would be on Capitol Hill today, and yet? Here we go....Yesterday Sessions, today McGhan, and the gang....Enough!

Well it is clear they lied. Should have been turfed last year when it was confirmed he had abused 2 wives. Later in the year an ex girlfriend called the WH lawyer and informed him of the same.

I expect him to go wider than Wray and just pound on the FBI in general so as to not appear to obstruct.
