Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation' [W:538]

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

I know it's not perfect, but at the same time, are we just to automatically believe every accusation because a woman says it's so? I think there has to be more investigation then that don't you?

Why would people with brains do that? Where have you seen that without additional evidence? At least 'believe with any ability to have impact?'

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

Probably? That's your anti-Trump post? Probably? In other words, you admit that you really don't know who Trump was talking about and that the best you can do is "probably".

What difference does it make which person he was talking about? He's still defending wife beaters.

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

No, Porter's? No, I think he did in fact abuse his former wives, or girlfriends, or whatever they were...But, as we see with this instance...How many are using this, right now to try and disrupt the west wing? Because that is what I see going on here, not some genuine concern for the women.

Or maybe we think people who assault women are bad human beings. As for disrupting the White House, that's completely at the feet of Trump and Kelley for allowing a man they knew to be investigated by the FBI for spousal abuse to continue working in the White House. If they had shown better judgment this wouldn't be in the news right now.

No, not at all. We thrive because we disagree, especially in places like DP. But we must have some basic foundations of understanding. Up means up. Two plus two equals four. In cases of sexually harassing, sexually assaulting, and beating people, most of us agree that they're bad things. But rather than address those very real problems, some people just want to attack the accusers and point to someone in history who did something worse.

I hope you don't think that is me....I deplore those who mistreat women...however, there has to be more than just the accusation...In Porter's case there is, photo's....That's fine...So, then, tell me what happens if the allegation is less clear? what then?

And there it is...you don't care a bit about some guy being accused of domestic violence, all you care about is how you can use it to go after Trump, or Kelly. Thanks for revealing that.

They do it all the time.....Especially for political reasons....

What a weird leap of logic. You said yourself that you believe Porter abused his wives. It's fair to assume that Trump and Kelley believed it as well. What do you think it says about their judgment that they knowingly allowed a wife beater to work in the White House? Is there still a part of you deep down inside that's capable of admitting that Trump and Kelley showed bad judgment here? Is there any part of you left that can admit that anymore? Or have you thrown your lot in with Trump's so much that to admit to an error by Trump is to admit to some deep flaw in yourself?

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

Trump was elected because he beat 16 other "establishment Republicans" in the primary and beat the establishment dynasty candidate of Hillary Clinton. So, yes, of course many people hate Trump but, as I said, that is why he was elected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, no, no. The story is in the Primaries...

- Republicans enthusiastically threw their loyalty to Trump with 14 million votes (Cruz coming in second with just 7 million).
- Democrats were almost split and almost half of them preferred Sanders to Hillary Clinton.

It should be clear enough to most people by now....

- Trump was elected because he grafted all that irrational hate that Fox News/GOP had been cultivating for years. It was not because he ran against Hillary in the Republican Primaries.
- Hillary Clinton, being on the other side in the General, was going to give anybody on the right the victory.

The Democratic Party was so out of touch and so willing to honor a prior deal, that they offered Democrats a candidate in which many Democrats chose to abstain. And with swing voters stuck between Clinton and Trump, it was a coin toss. Trump won on irrational slogans like "build a wall" and "lock her up."

People, in the end, hate Trump because he is an asshole. Pretending that he is not the establishment only avoids the fact that he has admitted to buying and selling politicians to serve his personal needs. So congratulations. You showed the establishment by bypassing the politician and going directly to the string pullers. One only needs to see his initial Cabinet of Wall Street insiders, oil men, and lobbyists to find the swamp he promised you to drain.

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

I don't know what the answer is...Tell me, what is the answer for someone falsely accused?

That is a problem too. Although I would think the number of legitimate accusations far outweigh the false accusations.

In case of the gymnast coach Larry Nassar, the first victim was dismissed as silly by the police whom the police chief has came now out to apologize to her.

Proving sexual abuse cases are very difficult indeed. I think for men that you can't going around bragging about grabbing women's ******s then acting shocked if someone accuses you of it. It isn't rocket science.

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

A pun? I get it.

I read BBC and watch/listen to nothing. There is too much eye rolling, designed physical innuendo, and patriotic-colored vomit all over the screen when it comes to television news. Not that it would have any affect on me. I'm too smart for that crap. Issues are far more than a current event or a headline. But watching/listening to the news is extremely insulting.

Look, whatever the man manages to accidentally do good during his time is good for the nation. So far I'm not seeing much from a guy who was supposedly going to "Drain the Swamp" right before he filled his Cabinet with swamp folk.

This Tax-Cut Bill, as economists everywhere have pointed out, is purposefully about his own kind with an unexpressed Trickle-Down twist. We can look at history to see where this is going; and we can certainly apply recent events to increase spending to the probability of eventual new taxes upon those who just received a temporary cut. Trump's rolling back of everything Obama is only about pleasing his fan base who hates everything Obama. What comes from that is probably not so good. Since he is just fine with making almost 2 million citizens out of immigrants and has recently extended the Syrian refugee issue, the "wall" is also just about exploiting an object in order to please his non-thinking fan base who think immigrants are stealing their jobs, creating mass crime, and bringing terror. Foreign policy issues, like the threat of economically spanking Pakistan and the Palestinians, may be applause worthy, but we have to understand that there will be unintended consequences of such a play. Carter haphazardly screwed with this sort of thing inconsistently and the Islamic Republic of Iran came out of it.

But his behavior and conduct is a black eye, a stain, and an insult, especially upon military folk. I just don't understand why you continue to have hope...<--- wait, that was Obama's lame shtick.

Do you even see what you are doing here? This is about some staffer, who resigned, and the whole thing made into some scandal, by those doing exactly what you are doing. Which is, that you don't like the agenda, so anything to attack it....not everything is about that.

Well, that's a fair point...So, now that the staffer resigned, are we to assume that this issue is resolved? Or, are there more scalps you want?

Yep, I do believe Porter's ex's...I don't think it extends further than waiting for the FBI conclusion on background....If the administration got rid of everyone based on accusations from articles like what I posted from the NYTimes that used "two people familiar with the situation", they'd have no one to staff the President....

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

Considering the context, what do you propose as an alternative? Must we stretch the limits of credulity every day just to defend the president?

Must you stretch the limits to attack Trump every day on things such as "probably"?

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

What difference does it make which person he was talking about? He's still defending wife beaters.

There is no proof that the second person was a wife beater.

The establishment of both sides are against Trump so it is really no surprise that many people don't like Trump. That's why voters voted for him.

Then, you start looking at the numbers of accusers, and the circumstances... as well as what ever other evidence is around it. When there are multiple women who have nothing to gain, and are independent of each other coming forward, then it give an aura of legitimacy. That doesn't mean that there can't be political hack jobs. You also look as 'did the woman tell people to lie about the story'.

Trump has never once sided with or supported women unless it serves him politically. His little show during the debates. And his condemnation of Franken were quick and without concern for due process. Now he supports Porter just as he did Moore.

And yet the Trumpers fall in lockstep with their messiah and are blind to the blatant hypocrisy.

You must be answering somebody else's post, because I didn't ask you if you believed the ex wives. The White House knew about the FBI investigation of Porter for spousal abuse for months, and they knew it was credible. Was it right to keep him on even as irregularities in his background check appeared as far back as November? Did Kelly and Trump show bad judgment? I'd like to think that you're able to admit this to yourself and that you're just reluctant to admit it to me.

When you log off of DP and you're just talking to your family and friends, all of whom are Republicans and support Trump, are you able to say, if only amongst yourselves, "Yeah, but hiring a wife beater? That's weird. I mean, wtf was up with that?"

Do I want more scalps? How about yourself? I don't know if you have a daughter or sister but how would you feel if they were beaten up or sexually abused? I think I already know the answer.

I like to see every man who has abused a woman to spend 3 minutes in the ring with John Cena.

And what if your daughter or sister has no physical evidence to prove her case. Do you just say, Darn that sucks? Hell no.

Re: Trump tweets on lives 'being shattered by ... a mere allegation'

Well, two things...

1) There is no real agenda. Nobody anywhere can define the "agenda." It's all adhoc. His being the worst "First-100 Days" on historical record by far proves that much; and this is without addressing his contradictory comments and behaviors in relation to his official National Security Strategy (Foreign Policy). Even with an official document, he can't stay true to that agenda.

2) This one staffer was joined by another aide. Before this we can see a long line of poor choices in his Cabinet that includes a "good charactered" Steve Bannon, in which they actually had a high school-like feud for all to enjoy. According to that published book, his entire Cabinet is full of back stabbers and people who think little of him. Of course, then there's the official support of Roy Moore. So it's not just about a single staffer. Trump has bad judgement and appears to be a crap magnet. This is because he lacks morality, abides that in others, and has led a silver-spooned life of elitism. Now he is the President of the United States.

I notice that you stay clear of his military denigrating comments. This isn't because you defend them. I don't believe that. I suspect this is because you chose to swallow that pill, knowing that Hillary Clinton was on the other side. But this doesn't mean that you have to own Trump's BS and deceits.

My Father is a Vietnam Veteran, a thirty-year retired Marine, and likes Trump. He won't even discuss his comments. I can't reconcile that. It's like trying to reconcile a Liberal who likes a man, despite denigrating people for their color of sexual orientation.

Duke lacrosse team.

Really? Are you implying the case of the Duke lacrosse team is equivalent to all the cases of domestic abuse? Or just to the Central Park 5, which it doesn't even come near to in comparison. One Duke player spent one day in jail for supposedly lying, which was not true. Four of the Central Park 5 spent 7 years in jail and one spent 13 years.

During the whole Moore thing, there was this report out there that some of these accusers had been paid off to make the allegations....Tell me, now that Moore lost, and the press left town, have any of these accusers brought civil cases? And if so, what's the outcome? Why no interest now? Because the people behind the hit job got what they wanted that is why.

Nah, we generally sit around the make shift Trump grotto, candles lit, and all have a good laugh at just how we are going to ruin America next....
