Arthur Jones

Arthur Jones — an outspoken Holocaust denier, activist anti-Semite and white supremacist — is poised to become the Republican nominee for an Illinois congressional seat representing parts of Chicago and nearby suburbs. “Well first of all, I’m running for Congress not the chancellor of Germany. All right. To me the Holocaust is what I said it is: It’s an international extortion racket,” Jones told the Chicago Sun-Times. Indeed, Jones’ website for his latest congressional run includes a section titled “The ‘Holocaust Racket’” where he calls the genocide carried out by the German Nazi regime and collaborators in other nations “the biggest blackest lie in history.” Jones, 70, a retired insurance agent who lives in suburban Lyons, has unsuccessfully run for elected offices in the Chicago area and Milwaukee since the 1970s. To Jones’ own amazement, he is the only one on the Republican ballot. “And given the fact that I’ve got no opposition in the primary, OK, I win that one (the primary) by default all right,” Jones said during an interview in a coffee shop in Lyons.

That leaves Illinois Republicans saddled with a nominee who is well known for his racist and white supremacist activities. Tim Schneider, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party said in a statement to the Sun-Times, “The Illinois Republican Party and our country have no place for Nazis like Arthur Jones. We strongly oppose his racist views and his candidacy for any public office, including the 3rd Congressional District.” Jones told the Sun-Times he is a former leader of the American Nazi Party and now heads a group called the America First Committee. “Membership in this organization is open to any white American citizen of European, non-Jewish descent,” he said. “And given the fact that I’ve got no opposition in the primary, OK, I win that one (the primary) by default all right,” Jones said during an interview in a coffee shop in Lyons. Jones in a few weeks almost certainly will be a GOP nominee. But he doesn’t plan on seeking support from Illinois’ Republican governor — or the Republican president of the United States. He said in his Pikeville address, according to a video on YouTube, he was sorry he voted for President Donald Trump, who has “surrounded himself with hoards of Jews” including his Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Jones doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the heavily Democratic 3rd Congressional District.

Still, the Illinois GOP couldn't find ANYONE better to primary against Jones? Pathetic and highly embarrassing.

Nazi's and Communists ran for office back in the 30's - 50's... it happens.

Anyone can run under any party label they want, freedom has at least a few costs.
David Duke ran as a Democrat which is appropriate because the Klan is a Democratic organization. The Klan endorsed Hilary.

I can believe this has happened, because who in their right mind would want to spend all the tine and money to run as a Republican in that district? Since this guy is obviously not in his right mind, he evidently qualifies.

We have similar districts in the south, where full blown Communists are some of the only ones that will run in certain districts where the Democrat normally gets less than 20% of the vote in the general election.

Districts like that attract nutblades.

Are you echoing my point or countering it?

David Duke has run as under several party banners at one point in time or another.

You can't force him not to run. Nor, can you force anyone else to run against him, especially since they know they'd lose in the general election. To the GOPs credit -- they've denounced him. More than once.

This is the eighth time the 70-year-old candidate has run for the Republican primary in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District, all of which he lost.

The Illinois Republican Party rebuked the candidate in a statement, saying their chapter “and our country have no place for Nazis like Arthur Jones,”

“We strongly oppose his racist views and his candidacy for any public office, including the 3rd Congressional District,” Tim Schneider, a spokesman for the party, told the newspaper.

That's putting it mildly. This is Dan Lipinski's 3rd, and it is the remnants of the Daley Machine of yore. I doubt they even let Republicans within a mile of the polling place!

But as can be seen by Lipinski's surname, this a still a substantial Polish district. I'm surprised Jones hasn't had substantive threats due to his Nazi association.

And speaking of Jone's American Nazi Party association, he claims he headed it at one time, and going by his age and rough geography, it's possible he was associated with Frank Collin and the Marquette Park headquarters back in the 70's.

Thank much for posting this.

Didn't anyone run against this Jones in the primary? The nomination says a lot about the GOP voters in the district as well!
What GOP voters?

It's a hopeless district!

Besides the publicity and ego stroking, there's an entrepreneurial side to this that some in the district use as a part-time seasonal family business:

1] Declare yourself a GOP candidate
2] Hustling contributions & funding
3] Put your family on the payroll and as your contractors
4] Lose
5] Pay taxes on the unspent funds, and convert them to personal assets.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat, every two years.

And yep, it's all legal! And perfectly appropriate for Chicago's "Shameless" district (it includes Canarryville).

Running is one thing. Winning is another. What an embarrassment. Not to mention scumbag.

Yea well neither are you! The KKK news paper endorsed emperor narcissist tweeto.

The Grand Dragon for California himself said that he was voting for Hillary Clinton. What more do you need?

If he had endorsed Trump, would you have doubted him?

He was pulling the interviewers leg. The election commission said there were no anonymous donations of $20k. Ignorance is bliss I guess. You and the Washington times got snookered. LOL! I never even heard about this until your post. Thanks for the chuckle.

Wow. I need to wash my eyes now.

Man. You must have clicked the 'holocaust?' button, too.
What an ignorant ***hole. Probably has about the same chance of election to Congress as I do.
