Why does trump seem to always act like the oval office is where he thinks he's a mafioso kingpin?

Trump asked Rosenstein if he was 'on my team'

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein visited the White House in December seeking President Donald Trump's help. The top Justice Department official in the Russia investigation wanted Trump's support in fighting off document demands from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes.

But the President had other priorities ahead of a key appearance by Rosenstein on the Hill, according to sources familiar with the meeting. Trump wanted to know where the special counsel's Russia investigation was heading. And he wanted to know whether Rosenstein was "on my team."

He's unable to distinguish between his own power and the institutions of government. In the post-Trump years we'll be seeing numerous traditions turn into law. It's a little unfortunate because an ethical President that respects the principles of the separation of powers can be trusted to wield the enormous powers of his office responsibly, and with additional laws created will find his powers curtailed. But as they say, somebody's always got to ruin it for everybody else.

"According to sources familiar with the meeting." How come CNN never has a named source? I guess McCabe or Comey is behind this one, too?

CNN was 6th in the ratings last night of the networks that broadcast the SOTU.

Nobody believes a damn word they say about anything. Nor should they.

If Obama had even thought of saying something like that, the alt-right would be down at the White House screaming for his impeachment.

The thing is, the alt right genuinely believes that's what Obama did all the time anyway. To their way of thinking Obama was a tyrant, and now it's their turn to have their own tyrant. That's been at the heart of whataboutism all along, and that's why it's been perfectly impossible to reason with them.

A. This isn't about CNN. Please pay better attention.
B. They don't reveal sources because they don't want to endanger and/or lose them.

Super glad I could clear those up for you.

Trump is payback for their perception of Obama. I was no fan of Obama's, as you well know. Obama was no tyrant.

There was an article recently on that. It was obvious because everytime trump breaks those traditions, his toadies everywhere, including in here, immediately respond with.... "but is it illegal?" so there can never again be gentlemen's agreement on anything. The small government GOP now demands that all morality be legislated.

This administration looks shadier and shadier day by day. In the end I think may get desperate and fire Rosenstein and try and get someone else in there to fire Mueller, going to get very ugly over the next year.

Your first sentence is what I've been saying.

Obama did some things I wasn't thrilled with, and on a couple occasions played dangerously close to the traditionally-recognized limits of his powers. That said, I'm pretty sure if you look back through history you'll find every President has flirted with those boundaries now and again. But to call Obama a tyrant and thus justify your own is like saying that because I once hit a dog with my car years ago, that must mean hitting dogs with cars is normal and a guy who hits dogs with his car for a hobby is fine. It's pants-on-head logic.

It's basically a rewording of the same thing he asked of Comey... to pledge loyalty to Trump.

Find solace in your conspiracies. They can get you out of everything, including reality.

If this actually happened it shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Trump is pushy boor. He runs his administration in the same manner he ran his businesses. He doesn't see any difference between the two positions, and unfortunately it would seem neither does his base. Insults and intimidation are the two most used tools in his belt, and this resonates with this sycophants. they will undoubtedly have no problem with this kind of conduct if it turns out to be true.

Hell, I just learned about one of those traditions yesterday. When Trump decided to flout Congress's veto-proof vote to implement new sanctions on Russia, I learned that he can do that. A prior example of this (actually, I think it was you who told me this) was Obama not enforcing Federal rules against marijuana possession. The differences between the two situations are legion, and illustrates where a President's ability to exercise the elasticity of his power responsibly will be curtailed in the future, and that's a bad thing for all of us.

Another example where an official's authority was curtailed was with respect to minimum sentencing in courts. When the prosecutor was given sole authority over the sentences of those determined to be guilty, it removed the judge's ability to apply lenience where circumstances allowed. That messed up our judicial system in a way that caused absolute havoc to people's lives and communities. Judges having less power was and continues to be utterly destructive.

I think the post-Trump years will be worse, but the fear that another Trump will come along will be enough for people to close the loopholes that were once beneficial where a responsible President served in office.
