The White House asked to borrow a van Gogh. The Guggenheim offered a gold toilet instead.

They could have said "no" politely, instead of adding the political exclamation mark.
It would have been the grown up thing to do.

The Guggenheim is known around the world for purposely making satirical statements. And the artist who created the toilet even did them one better. When contacted about the offer, he replied "I'm done", and hung up the phone. LOL.

Sounds like America elected an Archie Bunker Billionaire.

Theoretical question- What if the Guggenheim offered the Obama WH a lawn jockey?
In exchange for what request?

I mean, something like a toilet, that really bespoke of the curator's feelings for POTUS?Is that befitting for the office of the President?
Was the van Gogh for the office of the President?

Look, I don't expect liberals to have class
I do not believe you would know class if you sat again in first grade.

I would have expected slightly more class from Guggenheim. This was rather childish.

Funny, seems like many of the same people who in the past defended Trump having a gold plated toilet are now PO'ed that the Guggenheim offered him another one.

Seriously many see Trump as an anti-elitist. Yet he uses a gold plated toilet? And wants a Van Gogh? He seems like every other elitist and politician.

"When they go low, we go high... except when we don't"

That's what everyone cheered Michelle Obama for saying, right? No?
Oh, wait, our former FLOTUS didn't include that last part, did she?

Wow, that #hashtag didn't last long.

From the Guggenheim and Trump to, errrr, Michelle Obama....

What?

Yup, and here's the deal. The Guggenheim has displayed satirical pieces of art for decades. So, when Donald Trump asked for a Van Gogh for his personal residence at the White House, thus taking that piece away from public view for several years, he set himself up for this joke. But he shouldn't be mad. His greed at least got him an offer of a solid gold crapper. LOL.

Oh, I get it. They've got a good sense of humor.

I was mainly wondering if that Acadia fellow could articulate what Michelle Obama had to do with it. (Nothing, of course)

your conservative masters appreciate your obedience but just so you know, in addition to making no sense, your deflection to Michelle says more about you than you think.

I'm not disappointed, nor am I surprised. This pretty much meets the standards I've set for Democrats and liberals.
It's Michelle Obama whose words did not resonate with you or Nancy Spector.

wow, you are really "locked in" on her. again, I think I know why.

Look, I don't expect liberals to have class, or walk the walk, or do as they say. However, I can call out this ungracious, uncivil and vulgar stunt for what it is.

yea, your "thinking" is starting to come into focus. Trump has been the epitome of "ungracious, uncivil and vulgar" his whole life so why do you think you can ignore that and obsess about/deflect to Michelle? Again, your conservative masters appreciate your obedience.

Of course we do.
Should the Guggenheim have insulted Obama in this crass manner, I would have called it out for the disgusting act it is.
Fact.

I dont know if trump took it as an insult. Can you really be sure?

anyhoo, don't forget, I asked you why you think you can obsess about/deflect to Michelle.

I don't care which path he or you takes, I just don't want to be forced to walk it with you.

Oh, no one is forcing you. You leaped into this thread all by yourself! And chose to bring personal insults along with you.

Please improve your reading comprehension. No mention of walking together was made.

I have heard good intentions pave the way, and no one has better intentions than a liberal, or so they say.

Yea, I heard that too but never been able to confirm.

I am sure they appreciate your kind remarks as much a you do their.

Maybe edit that last sentence. Its not very legible.

The Guggenheim's offer fits the man that's in the office, has nothing to do with the office.
I keep hearing "Trump talks like me" Trump talks like the guy at the bar"

There just isn't enough time to list all of the things that come into my head here.

Sure there is. The list isn’t that long. Probably take about 45-seconds.
Grace us.

I've never heard anyone say Trump talks like the guy at the bar. Ever. His manner of speaking is unvarnished, sure. He cuts the b.s. and says what he thinks, definitely.
His lack of being measured is why some find him relatable, even though he's a billionaire.
Class? We probably disagree on what makes someone classy. One's "class" is another's self righteous.

Hey, I will have you know that Trump has lots of class, the best class, bigly class!!
