Does anyone doubt Trump is trying to do this to his detractors here in America, if can get away with it? Look at what he tried to pull with The Fire and Fury! He knows the courts won't have it, which is why he's constantly working to de-legitimize them, along with the FBI, free-press, and other pillars & institutions of our democracy.

Sounds like a personal problem to me. Russians might be knuckle-dragging luddites when it comes to having a proper body of law, but I was specifically addressing Chomsky's point about Trump's actions, which are most certainly constrained by a civilized society.

The constitution is a piece of paper, buddy. Freedom and rights do not stem from a piece of paper. They are codified in it.

The Constitution is a document. It will not protect us from Trump unless those that have sworn to protect the Constitution actually stand up and defend it from domestic enemies.

Unfortunately, it seems, that we are in a time that demands the voices of patriotic Americans, but instead we get the quiet of tribalists, afraid to risk their personal turf for the greater cause.

Our nation's leaders are a feeble crew.
