McConnell offers an olive branch to re-open the government, but will it be enough?

There's no faith that there was ever going to be a DACA bill anyway, hence the reason we're at this point. If there was any good faith that Republicans would reauthorize CHIP or pass a DACA bill, this would not be happening. Democrats would simply take Republicans at their word and deal with those issues after the spending bill.

We've offered a deal for DACA in exchange for border security. Your side passed.

This whole issue has become a game of chicken, regardless of who holds the high road. What matters to politicians is public perception, who reads it more accurately and can weaponize it most efficiently.

Pretty much.

I'm sure those on the CHIP program thank you for your concern about their ability to not receive funds now while DACA still has over a month before it too is ended.

What is preventing them from addressing the DACA issue now?

The wall he said that Mexico was going to pay for? He already has capitulated on that. He wants us to pay for it.

Well, the main thing is to get it built. We can send the 101st Airborne in later to get the money. Or just stop illegals from transfering money from here to there, until they pay up. Or ban the importation of avacados.

There was no way he was going to get Mexico to pay for it anyways.

Oh ye of little faith! I believed him. Every word.;)

Actually, of course that part isn't true, but you and I both know that many of the chin dribblers believed him.

Uh...no. That deal was brokered by Schumer and McConnell and turned down by Trump.

So you think the shutdown should remain, and that unless the democrat party gets 100% of what it wants, it's the republicans fault.

Is this really your intellectual position? wow, card, wow.

So you admit then that Republicans never had any intention of passing CHIP or DACA. Well, we knew that already.

I thought 6 years of CHIP funding was in the existing CR?

My mom did. She's all Trump-crazy now.

We all talk about the geographic and economic distribution of trump supporters, but it's really odd that it became a family wedge issue as well. I don't know of a single family that wasn't fractured in some way by this.

Reminds me of the joke about Politics and how it originated from the Greek
Poli- meaning group - tics meaning blood sucking creatures

I just noticed, you're in Nacogdoches. I was stationed at Ft. Sam, in a Medivac unit. We went there a lot. Nice area for a single guy. I had a blast in SA and that area. I got in a lot of trouble there also. I found out that there is such a thing as too much of a good time. Do you ever go tubing?

My parents are 100% Trump supporters now too; quite the 180 from the hardline, pro-Clinton Democrats they were 20 years ago.

Why wasn't it addressed in the last four months? So they could use the health of millions of children to hold over the heads of Democrats, and that isn't totally "Bond villain" at all. And besides, there still isn't acceptance of DACA yet.

Nope. But since I'm going to college here for the next 3 or so years, I just might eventually. We'll see. :)

My family is fine, but I sometimes get into heated political arguments.

I want to hear about the trouble you got into.

It wasn't legal trouble. I had rampant hormones. Medivac Crewchief on a base with a lot of female trainees. What could go wrong? Let's just leave it at that.
