You are responsible, 100% of the time, for how you act.
A lesson Trump should learn.

You need 60 votes to proceed to a floor vote. Democrats vote 42-6 against bringing it to a floor vote. Republicans voted 47-4 in favor of a floor vote. This is a Democrat shutdown.
And why did they do it? Because they wanted a DACA amendment. They turned down the biggest extension of CHIP in the program's history because of frigging DACA. They apparently don't want to win in 2018.
A lesson Trump should learn.
The president told them to address DACA with this bill. They did. He lost his nonexistent mind and went on another racist rant. Every single one of them own this shutdown.
I agree. Shutting down the government to push an agenda that has no bearing on financing our government is beyond stupid and pathetic. DACA should be a separate issue from the financing of our government. I hope they shut it down until our leaders get their heads out of there rectums. So we are not going to pass a budget because a bunch of people are in this country illegally. Just genius. I say we pass laws requiring the removal of these criminals before their is a problem that requires DACA.
The way I see it, the GOP spent far too much energy radicalizing its constituency and nowhere near enough time dealing with issues in the present and planning for the future. After so many years, they proved to not even have a plan for repealing Obamacare. And after ramming this massive tax-cut Bill through (Obamacare style) and greatly reducing government revenue, they immediately declare that there isn't enough money to fund defense and border security. There's just not a lot of rational thought and reasoning going on.
The President's remarks, ugly as they may have been, are irrelevant. IMHO this is 100% on the Dems.
It’s 100 percent on our posturing, small minded national politics.
Trump owns the House and the Senate.
Under his supreme negotiating skills, we have a shut down government.
Wow. What a colossal loser !

I think they rammed through the tax bill to dismantle entitlements. The president can't see two feet in front of his face, but Ryan especially has been drooling over the prospect for his entire political career and longer.

Well, I'm glad you're not the person deciding what to do about those 800,000 lives. By the way, the president told Congress to address DACA in this spending bill. I'm disgusted by the whole lot of them, but it is not completely honest to say that Democrats forced this shutdown by insisting on a non-germane item.
Yeah ACA was even better right......... That got rammed down our throats without ANY regards..
IMHO this is 100% on the Dems.
Unless you're using the "100%" statement as hyperbole for dramatic impact, that's a mathematically disprovable thing, seeing as a bipartisan deal was brought to trump and he rejected it. That would bring it down to 70% trump and 30% Congress. Then Republicans refused to reauthorize CHIP, making it a bargaining chip for entirely cynical reasons, bringing Democrats' part in this down an additional 30%. It should be 0% on the Democrats, but there's also no denying that technically speaking, if Democrats didn't insist on not immediately rolling over there would be a spending bill. Therefore it's only fair to give them 10% of the blame.
But then...
Republicans in Congress don't even want to create a bill because they have no idea what Trump will agree to. This brings Democrats' part in this down to 5%, and I'm straining to give them that much purely in the interests of bipartisanship.
Not for me. The president specifically told them on live and national TV to address DACA. There is not one innocent person from either party in this.
Congratulations America. The Democrats allowed the government to shut down because they weren't willing to fund it unless it had protections for illegal aliens. To them illegal aliens are more important than funding the government for American citizens.
I hope to God people gain some sense and vote these idiots out of office.
I know you are, but what am I? I'm not talking about the ACA, but even if I was, how do two wrongs make a right? You can't keep pointing to the past to excuse bad behavior in the present. That's why we never, ever get out of this ****ing nightmare.
The outline of the DACA/Wall deal predates all of that and could have been taken up at any time had Schumer cared to do so.
A deal has been available for months: Fund the Wall; save the Dreamers. Dems, for the moment, prefer to keep the issue rather than solve the problem, and polish their anti-Trump credentials.
IMAO, I agree.
But, c'mon. The GOP is reaping what they sow right now. Throughout Clinton and Obama's tenures, the GOP played this game of government shutdown as a negotiating tactic and it was the Democrats' job to keep the government open by caving in to Republican demands. Mulvaney even admitted to this past tactic (that we all have witnessed for ourselves) and is trying to call the Democrats hypocrites for it. Now the Republicans act outraged because the Democrats have followed in their foot steps? How can Republicans not see the sheer hypocrisy in forcing Democrats to cave over and over and now refuse their own game? It really was the GOP that decided to shut down. All they had to do was what they expected Democrats to do -and did- all those former times...cave.
800,000 ILLEGAL immigrants are holding HOSTAGE 400 Million AMERICANS?????.... Senate requires 60 votes, Republicans hold 51 seats needs at least 9 additional votes... NONE.... Yeah politics? Morals? Principals? YEAH pure Political BULL !@##$
It's the GOP's fault because they let it lapse in order to use it as a bargaining chip. If you dispute that, you are wrong.
