GOP lawmakers demand that 'alarming' memo on FISA abuses be made public

What I can't understand is the demands by the Democrats to release the transcript of the interview with Glenn Simpson (Fusion GPS) but they want to block the release of this memo to other members of Congress. I think the public deserves to see EVERYTHING.
From the article:

Seems suspicious to me. Maybe even disingenuous or hypocritical. I want all the documents that can be released to the public to be released. If the memo is released to all of the members we could see it in a week.
It's interesting how all of the sudden conservatives are interested in FISA protocol.

While there's an argument to be made about government violating civil rights, that's not what this is about for the GOP, they are simply doing what they always do. Attacking any and all institutions and processes as illegitimate/statist when, and only when, it effects them negatively.

FYI: It was the CIA that intercepted Kremlin figures whom were in contact with Manafort and Page. As they are US citizens, the matter was turned over to the FBI, which then brought the evidence to the FISA court, and obtained the warrants.

All legal, deal with it.

Well duh. FISA has been getting criticized by members of the right for a long time. Republicans like Rand Paul have frequently criticized "ROVING WIRETAPS". It was the liberals who wouldn't stop chanting "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about". Obama's administration kicked the abuses into overdrive.
What a complete load of crap.

It was after 9/11 when the Bush administration and RNC (with help from the Blue dogs) used that argument.

What did they state- facts - or did the go look at this bogeyman? Cannot tell ya anything, but if you saw what we saw, well, head for the bunkers.
And do you think Nunes is credible?

Why isn't he? Because of that incident he was completely cleared of? You got real problems. When Dems vote not to allow Republicans to see something; red flag.

How did they vote? Link and proof pls.

And it was Republicans like Rand Paul who tried to put a stop to it (even though he didn't enter office until 2006). The most ridiculous abuses started and expanded under the Obama administration.

I myself have explained to you why Sztrok was demoted several times, so you're just wanting to repeat talking points.

And I debunked your ridiculous explanation.
You said Sztrok was removed from Muellers team over his anti-Trump text, that Mueller didnt want Sztrok's rabid partisanship undermining his investigation.

Well, I guess Weinstein should be removed also then ?

And of-course being fired from Muellers team and being demoted to Human resources are entirely TWO different things

So Ill ask again, why was Sztrok removed from his senior position as the assistant head of the FBIs counter intelligence division and reassigned to human resources ?

Both administrations have expanded this crap, Bush was just as bad as Obama,

It's not being looked at by the GOP because they care about civil liberties (Rand Paul believes presidents have the right to self-pardon FFS) or anything along those lines. This is just an effort to delegitimize whatever was uncovered by the FISA warrants; like the money laundering and fraud of Manafort and Gates.

The Senate Committee released Simpsons testimony too

He said he went to the Media because he thought the FBI was partisan in Trumps favor.

That he took it upon himself to release the dossier to media outlets, because he thought it was important that Americans knew both candidates were under a FBI investigation.

Lol !!
No, he went to the media because he was being payed by Hillary Clinton and the DNC.
Because he was directed to go the media

I would love the hypocrisy of the GOP to allow for televised questioning of these people involved in Russia Gate. But what ever once the Tsunami lands ashore the Dems will control the House and that will happen.

A lot of us have suspected this for a very long time. I hope that a lot of upper echelon in the FBI and Justice Depts gets their asses kicked out of the govt.

This is just one of the early steps in the coming revelation of the absolute political corruption of the Obama administration. The next step will be when the DOJ OIG releases their report of their year-long investigation into Obama DOJ and FBI activities.

Somebody leaked bits and pieces of that report...and those leaks resulted in Strzok, Page, Carter, Ohr and McCabe all having their professional positions placed in jeopardy.

Remember...these are the early stages. Stay tuned.

I'll leave you with this:

What will be really interesting is if/when Trump's history of financial fraud is finally examined, and puts the Russia story together.

All we need to do is flip one of the chambers of the Congress to the Democrats, which will put them in charge of the oversight committees. Then Trumps banking records and obvious con-games can finally be looked over.

Really ? Youre attacking the source ?

The Obama administration already has a history of abuse when it comes to domestic surveillance.

They self reported and UNDER REPORTED multiple FISA violations back in October of 2016 with FISC calling these abuses serious 4rth ammendment violations

You can attack Nunez until your'e blue in the face, these memo's are eventually going to be released.

This will make Watergate look like childs play, and the Democrats will only have themselves to blame

lol you don't even know what's in the memo. You just have Nunes and his buddies saying "OMG ITS SO TERRIBLE". Nunes is a known liar, he's completely dishonest. There's no reason to believe anything he says. He should just go hole up in the Azores and gtfo of politics. He's a joke.

You are trying to rebut a memo that isn't even released yet. You don't know who wrote the memo or what the specific subject or date is and yet you are already trying to dispute it. Nobody does that isn't on the committee, thus the reason to release it. It makes one wonder about the honesty of your intent. I guess you don't need to know what is in the memo to make up your mind. Partisan hack much?

You haven't answered my quandary. You have, however, generated a rhetorical comment that doesn't address a thing that I am curious about but is a lame ( I mean really lame) attempt to divert the question that I had. Have no fear however. All it takes is a majority vote for the committee to release the memo so it will be released. I don't know what is in it. I want to know what is in it. I want to make my own decision about the contents. The fact that the Democrats want to hide the contents from us makes me want to know even more.

Oh, and they Republicans haven't become interested in FISA intrusions "all of a sudden".

LOLOL talk about a video that ends too soon

OK, so release the last 12 months of reports to the members of the house intelligence committee showing the why and where of FISA warrants and then we can ask them why they have not pitched a fit until now. And maybe ask them, why now?

They are just getting the documents. The FBI and DOJ have been stonewalling the release of the documents to the committees.

Here's the right wing chicanery that Fox isn't willing to use but TGP is more than happy to. Here's the narrative conservatives would like to paint:

Lawmakers from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) have called for the classified memo’s immediate release. According to Fox News contributor Sara Carter, the contents of the memo are so “explosive,” that it could end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe once and for all.

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino warned the release of the FISA report will destroy the image of his former boss Barack Obama.

“Take it to the bank, the FBI/FISA docs are devastating for the Dems. The whole image of a benevolent Barack Obama they’ve disingenuously tried to portray is about to be destroyed. The real Obama, the vengeful narcissist, is going to be exposed for all to see,” tweeted Dan Bongino

Yeah, okay. Because Sara Carter saw the document and a former secret service agent is well versed in FISA memos.

I stopped getting excited about this stuff a long time ago. There's always a "bombshell" report floating around somewhere and it's always either buried or fake. The dirtballs in DC have too much to lose by exposing a program they can use to spy on whatever American they want whenever they want. Both parties are culpable.

I've heard enough lies and propaganda from the Republicans in the House to know it's just a distraction game.

I have no problem with it being released. My guess is the Democrats are playing games because the GOP have played their own with the hiding of transcripts, but I agree it should it be released.

However, as I said before, it will be far more interesting to see Trumps financial records, and where he gets his financing. His instance that the investigations not see any of those records, makes millions of us wonder just what's in them.

They are just getting the documents. The FBI and DOJ have been stonewalling the release of the documents to the committees.
I can understand why.

David Nunes and the Republicans have been selectively leaking material to the press, some of which could effect the DOJ's ability to prosecute ongoing cases. Remember, much of the FISA warrants concerned Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, as they have yet to be tried, it's understandable the DOJ would not be too keen with a committee that's been highly politicized and leaking like crazy having their hands on them.

I bet the memo says the dossier was used in the FISA application. Which we all already knew.

Knowing it and proving it are two different things. If this is proven, with documentation, the whole game changes. Not sure that is what it's about and wouldn't be surprised if it was something totally different.
