Apple pledges to create 20,000 jobs in five years - CNN today

Lowering the corporate tax rate to 21% apparently induced them to cough up. Good PR as well, like the lead TV spot on ABC News tonight. Now the Republicans can use that $38B to feed the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about & build up our already huge military establishment.

I think that's about the deal that Apple made to the Obama administration 8 years ago. Obama said no.

For supersized corporations, definitely yes. The same thing can't be said of middle-income people in high tax states.

Solution: Don't live in a high tax state. Tell California, New York, et al to go shove their high taxes. Funny how people love their high tax states as long as they can write off those taxes on the federal return. Now that they actually have to pay their high taxes, all of a sudden they don't like high taxes. But, for the most part, the $10,000 cap hurts the rich and not the middle class or poor - just what liberals always claim they want.

A very typically Republican 'give a s***' response to a terrible situation. I believe it is thought that this was done intentionally to punish the Blue states that didn't vote for Trump.

What a shame (sigh). Apple is messing with conservatives and liberals are cheering. :(

I wish they would just take it all back ... Obama left the US of A with such a thriving economy that we don't need Apple's crumbs ...

"... Between the spending plan, hiring 20,000 people, tax payments and business with U.S.-based suppliers, Apple on Wednesday estimated it would spend $350 billion in the United States over the next five years. ..."

No you obviously hold that title.. :2wave:

Stop hating our country or move your sorry ass some were else.

No, liberals don't hate the US. We understand the US has problems better than you do and try to solve them.

Hardly.

Liberals hate the USA, and the proof is that they don't wish to solve problems. Instead they wish to fundamentally change this country. Again, as I keep telling you liberals, this is exactly why we gave you Donald Trump. :2wave:

As you can see, he will protect the fundamentals that make America, America.... Your desire to fundamentally change America was soundly defeated in the last several elections, leaving you and the left at the weakest point in American Government in say 90 years or so...

What do you not understand about that?

The problem with that is that liberals have only one solution to every problem. Bigger government and higher taxes.

Friggen right wingers, my god, do you really believe the idiocy? I can't believe how stupid so many posts are, it has to be intentional to troll, right? People can't be this friggen deluded?

The very nature of conservatism is do nothing. REpublicans have no solutions to anything, they make up fictitious problems that so many idiots just eat up to be distracted. They think government should do nothing.

The problem with that is that liberals have only one solution to every problem. Bigger government and higher taxes.

What do conservatives do? Oh, lets give a tax break to companies when unemployment is already very low and companies are swimming in cash. Let's make up a fictitious problems to get out ignorant base in a frenzy that all the problems in the worlds are due to those brown skinned immigrants. Let's do nothing, we don't need rules because those fine upstanding companies will naturally do the right thing, just ignore the history of abuse, fraud, and screwing over the people.

This country was built on immigrants, so who really hates America? The people that embrace all cultures, or those living in their little white bubble that hate on the majority of the country?

My post has substance your comments have NOTHING but a blind, wild, angry partisan rant.

My your ass must hurt awfully bad to cause that whine. Maybe sit in a bathtub with some ice water in it....

As for stupid, look in a mirror. It might surprise you.....

Doesn't change the fact that this new tax law, in regards to this issue, punishes those who are more well off, not the lower middle class or the poor - exactly what the left wants and now all of a sudden they want to gripe about those more well off that pay more than $10,000 in these types of taxes.

Remember when all the left got all butthurt over this tax plan? What's the excuses they are going to make on this one?

While corporate tax reform was necessary, this tax plan amounts to economic stimulus. Stimulating the economy when unemployment is 4.1% and asset markets are at all-time highs makes very little sense.

Wouldn't you agree?

Kind of sets you up for a quagmire if things were to take a turn for the worse.

Apple says a new campus, 20,000 jobs are on the way - Jan. 17, 2018

Apple just made a lofty promise to the American economy.

The company said in a press release Wednesday that it plans to create 20,000 jobs and invest $30 billion in U.S. facilities over the next five years.

Apple also informed employees worldwide on Wednesday that they would receive a $2,500 stock bonus in response to new U.S. tax rules, according to a source familiar with the matter. Bloomberg, which reported the news earlier, said the bonus would be available to employees below a certain senior level.

Apple employs about 123,000 full-time workers around the world. About 84,000 of those employees are based in the United States.

The new tax code will also mean Uncle Sam is about to get a big payday from Apple.

Companies like Apple can no longer avoid paying taxes on past international profits by keeping the money outside the United States. They must pay tax whether they bring this cash back to the country or not.

Apple said Wednesday it will make $38 billion in repatriation tax payments.

"A payment of that size would likely be the largest of its kind ever made," the press release says.

Regarding the Trump Tax Scam, I guess the old adage applies: It's an ill wind that doesn't blow somebody some good.

WINNING!!!

#MAGA. Making America Great Again :)

Not necessarily. But it could force a scenario where annual fiscal deficits in the $2 trillion range would be necessary to smooth the business cycle.

no, actually, Repatriating foreign kept assets is a good thing no matter what time you do it.

I am talking about the deficits for which this tax reform policy is financed.
