North and South Korea are going to field a joint team to compete in the Olympics:

SEOUL — North and South Korea agreed Wednesday to field a joint women’s hockey team at next month’s Winter Olympics and the two countries will march in to the opening ceremony under a single flag, according to South Korea’s Ministry of Unification.

The agreement came during a third round of talks between the rival Koreas at the border village of Panmunjom, located in the demilitarized zone that separates the peninsula.

It is the most striking breakthrough yet in a wave of sports diplomacy that began last week when the two countries sat down for the first time in over two years to discuss the North’s participation in the Winter Games.

Athletes from North and South Korea will march into the opening ceremony under the Unified Korea Flag, which features a blue silhouette of the Korean Peninsula against a white backdrop. The flag has been used before at international sporting events, including the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy.

Players from North and South Korea will also field a single women’s hockey team, in a first for both countries. Korean officials are expected to discuss the moves at a meeting with the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland, slated for Saturday, according to the Ministry of Unification.

Haha - tell me Obama could have pulled off something like that! Trump's brinksmanship has paid off.

Trump has as much to do with this as Snoop Dogg did. Most of the credit should belong to ROK President, Moon Jae-in and his administration. He ran on a platform of unifying ROK and DPRK. Or at the very least, rebuilding bridges between the two countries and bring about more peaceful discussion and policy. Since Moon's time as President, North Korea hasn't levied any serious threats of nuclear war to the South but rather towards the US. The biggest point of contention between the North and South at the moment is the US Military's presence on the peninsula.

IMO the Olympics and the Olympic athletes should not be political pawns.

I'm glad to see this.

All too good to be true, I mean the OP giving credit to Trump is of course laughable, but this is DPRK playing way too nice on this one.

Something is up.

If Trump had not put the screws to NK, they would have had no incentive to make this move. So yes...Trump DOES deserve some credit for this development.

That is laughably speculative.

So you have a crystal ball that can predict this? Or is it just your opinion? And no, Trump doesn't deserve the credit, south korea does. Tell me, when you bend over to kiss Trump's ass, do your knees hurt?

Yes...he also deserves credit for the sun coming up this morning, and the fact that the world has not been invaded by aliens ONCE since he's been in office!! WHEN WILL THIS MAN GET THE CREDIT HE DESERVES!!??

;)

I think it has more to do with NK wanting to be part of all the festivities, than it does with anything Trump said. It's a clever move on NK's part to 'show the world' how friendly and harmless they are.

This reminds me of the crying and gnashing of teeth on election night 2016.

LOL!!

I agree. Although I believe that's exactly what NK is doing. I don't trust this friendliness just because the Olympics is right next door.

lol...you should put that in your sig, homie, I've seen you type that exact same string a few dozen times since then... lol ... Save your fingers, and just let it hang out there, implied.

If only Obama had called Kim short and fat, he would have turned all his nukes over already.

If Obama hadn't called his dog "Bo", Kim Jong Un would have nuked Seoul in 2015.

Wow, this making up my own reality thing is fun!

Link to Trump pressuring N.Korea to form a joint women's ice hockey team, please?

I heard Trump is taking ice skating lessons so he and his bud can skate in the mixed pairs!

Hmmm I'm in a little bit of a quandry over this. If North and South unite wouldn't that be bad for the US?
I just don't see this going well for us. But okay.

???

I didn't say Trump did anything of the kind, so why should you expect me to present such a link?

Takes the pressure off those NK athletes. Imagine their fates if they had competed against, and lost to SK?
