Ohio Teacher Put on Leave After Lynching Remark to Black Student

BWHAAAA! :lamo what in the world makes you think that?

Wonderful...I didn't say it did, or should, did I?

Because I looked up the demographics and voting history of Mason, OH. I also know that part of the country reasonably well. I am making an assumption, but it's a pretty good one. Much better than your assumption that progressives would want a conservative teacher to be fired for being conservative.

And yes, that's exactly what you said.

"Every progressive in here would have her cleaning her desk out immediately."

Yes, she should be teaching because she understands that lynching isn't a racist act. It's an act of mob violence that was used against blacks, whites chinese, indians, etc. Lynching isn't racist.

Lynching in the US was historically and primarily a racist act. That's like saying that the Holocaust wasn't antisemitic because gay people were gassed too.

Not all progressives, no...Just the ones in here....lol

Yes, as opppsed to that. A person with any sense does not flippantly mention mob lynching to a black child in a room full of white children.

It never ceases to amaze that our populace now has skin made of tissue paper and is preoccupied by a never ending search for reasons to be outraged about something.

Yes, a virtue signaling mob out to ruin a teacher’s career is worse than a figure of speech.

Sounds like White Privilege running into a brick wall when the black people decide to say "Enough!"

Lmao. Sounds more like race baiting deflection from the fact that their children don’t value their education enough to do their homework. But by all means, he can join the horde who bomb out and live in the gutter. Maybe his perception of making a social justice issue out of being chastised for not doing his homework and hurting the grades of others as a result will bring him solace in the future.

This is where the FAILED INTELLIGENTSIA! and their Victim Culture Fetish have deposited us.

It never ceases to amaze me that a segment of our population is so historically ignorant about race relations and minority discrimination that they (mostly white, straight men) do not comprehend why people become outraged, hurt, damaged, or simply offended when they do, say, or condone racist and other discriminatory things.

IMO; it doesn't rise to the level that a 22 year teacher with no priors should lose her job over it. The punishment she is getting fits the crime.

Would you want your child in her class? She has a serious lapse in judgement

Oh, I see. Black children who fail to do their homework should be lynched by a white mob. Got it.

There's more of that historical ignorance. Mob lynching is not "a figure of speech".

There’s more literary ignorance. “Lynch mob” has been used as a metaphor for a very long time. To take that to mean anything other than that in 2018 is absolutely absurd.

"School officials said the teacher, Renee Thole, who has been employed at the school since 2004, admitted making the racially insensitive comment to Nathan."

Mother wants teacher removed for telling black son he might be lynched for not focusing - ABC News

Wow, that is funny....OK, so this is a place were I am wrong.

IT HAPPENS

:2wave:

EDIT: We Zennists dont care that people think we are right, or that we are known as sages, we only care that we are sages, that is to say that through our extensive educations we have learned how to read The Universe, .........in Western Speak that we know where the truth is....as much as possible......because we are failed humans not Gods.

It’s a metaphor. And yes, the other kids in the class would be justified in being angry and confrontational that their grades suffer because of his failure to do his homework.

Metaphor to a white person without any empathy, perhaps. But, to a black child, it's a ****ing realistic threat.

It took me fewer than five seconds to confirm the story is true. Maybe do that next time. It'd be great for your Zen.

Oh come off it. No one is lynching anyone in Mason Ohio. In fact I’m not aware of anyone in the historical record having been lynched in the greater Cincinnati area. You’re just twisting into a pretzel by stretching back to a completely different time and place when none of the people involved in this story were even alive and insisting people take a well known metaphor literally to find reason to be offended.

Last year one of my students said something incredibly racist to another student. I was so shocked that I just stared at him for a second, then I got REALLY mad, pointed to the door and said "GET. OUT." All of the kids were like:

There is absolutely ZERO need to say what this teacher said to ANYONE. Buh bye.
