Sexual escapades of the right are now an accepted practice of the right. Okay. Let's see how they deal with blackmail. Probably a-ok too... as long as there is an R behind that name.

Prosecutor launches probe of Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens following extramarital affair revelation

A St. Louis prosecutor on Thursday said she would investigate published allegations that Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens threatened to blackmail a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair by saying he would distribute a nude photo of her if she revealed the relationship.

More unusual was what she purportedly said in a recording made surreptitiously by the woman’s jealous ex-husband, which the station played. In it, she can be heard telling how Greitens invited her to his home in 2015. Once she arrived, he told her he would show her how to do pullups, taped her hands to exercise rings and blindfolded her, all with her consent. Then, to her shock, she alleged, he snapped photographs of her naked and threatened to distribute the pictures if she revealed the relationship.

And of course from his earlier campaign commercial, the obligatory...

“I’m a Navy SEAL, native Missourian and most importantly, a proud husband and father.”

IL. Gov. Rauner getting hurt here on this one also, as he used this blackmailer Missouri governor in one of his ads thanking Rauner's DEM opponents. Rauner"s now pulled this multi-million dollar ad buy ...

Another "family values" republican politician. Gotta luv it. Pretty kinky.

Sounds like a problem, it there is any proof he is toast.

As a Missouri resident I wouldn't find this behavior particularly shocking. Although as far as I know we haven't heard anything directly from the woman in question yet. It could certainly be true, but there's also definitely motive for her to have lied to her husband to keep the affair from coming to light. I'd like to hear from her.

But there have definitely been rumors from both Republicans and Democrats that Greitens' well crafted public persona is a complete facade. With some evidence already out like a leaked phone call with his Republican primary opponent, John Brunner. One of the reasons I voted for Koster.

I voted for Koster as well, but my primary motivation for voting Koster has been justified over the past year with the way Greitens has tried to screw over the public school system in the state. I hope Greitens goes down and goes down hard. Anyone who tries to screw over school children is about as horrible of a person as it gets, in my opinion.

If this is true lock him up on blackmail charges.
Hopefully she kept some kind of records or proof.

I have run into people like that as well.
I was on a job and one of the local people came in.

I had just got there and he was like. Ol yea thank you for all your work. You guys are working really hard.
I was like I just got here you have no idea what I do or what I am doing.
It was totally fake. Of course the client didn't like it too well either and so he got fired.

Damn, if true this guy has a pretty sinister mind.

But after that, she still went ahead with the encounter?

Something's awry, here ...

What if the affair wasn't a one off?

You might have a point. I had assumed that was their first encounter.

So your premise is that they're having an ongoing relationship, then one day he manufactures his evidence to keep her silent? Alright, I'll buy that.

Thanks!

Your Missouri is certainly one state, one of a very few, where trump had huge coattails, carrying Blunt over the finish line. I don't see Kander going away, as he's working on state voter purges.

I'd rank MO just behind WI as the biggest risks for DEM Senators right now. I can't believe Renacci stepped in it today, though not surprised with Iowan Steve King!

Since I love this election stuff, and if you have time if you consider pertinent, could you please start a thread on elections in 2018, at least November?

And, you guys got a great pitching coach ...

Claire McCaskill probably would have lost in 2012 if it hadn't been for Mr. "Legitimate Rape" Todd Akin.

She was also one of his biggest campaign contributors in the GOPrimary.

I'd still take a Sen. Lugar in IN, though I strongly support Sen. Donnelley against the bloodbath survivor of Congressmen Rokita or Messer.

IMO, MO and IN are Southern states politically, and DEMs will need AL style turnouts in their 2 CDs in each state, along with inroads into trump/gop CDs. Jones only won one CD in AL and still won ...

What is this "Navy SEAL" nonsense? Is he REALLY a Navy SEAL?
I ask because if I had a dime for every FAKE Navy SEAL I've personally met in my life, I could retire and travel the world in the lap of luxury.
Has Stolen Valor checked this guy out?

And if he really IS a Navy SEAL, then he has dishonored them.

Ran it it his commercial and was never debunked. I agree on that stolen valor happening a ton. I was in the marines and my buddy was in the army and we used to joke about how many MORE special forces folk we ran into out of the service than when we were in. I don't think this guys doing that.

I just remember her coming out and stating that the results of the Republican primary should be honored...after Akin's rape comments came out. It was pretty nakedly self serving...but funny and it couldn't have happened to a better person than Akin.

The group said they also took issue with Greitens having written four books touting his service as a Navy SEAL, but never actually serving on a Navy SEAL platoon. Greitens was deployed four times to various theatres of operation around the globe, but with a Marine Unit – not a SEAL Team – a distinction SEALs do not take lightly.

“It sickens me to hear someone tell people they were a Navy SEAL and a war hero without ever even having served on a platoon,” one SEAL noted. “Eric misleads the American people into believing that he was a Navy SEAL war hero, but he never served as an officer leading SEALs on missions. He earned his SEAL trident, but he never served in the capacity he leads people to think he did. He is the only SEAL officer that I’ve ever heard of who didn’t lead a SEAL platoon.”

“a sexual encounter” sounds like a one-off. A “relationship” could be something ongoing, but not necessarily. Maybe it’s the power thing to let the state’s governor blind-fold you naked and tape your hands up to a pull-up bar and then you see a flash from a camera through the blind fold and just go on from there to have sex with the dude. Strange, but so often true. Doesn’t mean, though, that the Dems will win the governorship.

Am I the only one who finds that bolded section to be completely unbelievable?

He earned his seal status though so I can't really fault him for that. Unless he was out there bragging about doing things as a seal that he didn't.
