A bipartisan group of senators has reached an immigration deal

They were welcomed and generations later ended up as slaves.Doesn't change the fact they were talking about people who were allowed in the country.

That makes absolutely no sense. It would be as if America's transition out of slavery had gone in reverse, from semi-freedom to full slavery, and people tried to praise America because "we used to not have slaves." That is in effect what you just argued.

Joseph, his 12 brothers, and Moses.Does none of that ring a bell? Anyone who has been to Sunday school as a kid, or even semi-religious Jews should know that that story. Joseph was his father's favorite child and spoiled rotten. His older brothers were jealous and wanted to kill him. Instead they sold his ass into slavery. He wouldn't put out for his slave master's wife and ended up in prison on bogus accusations she made. Years later he told the pharaoh what his dreams meant and saved Egypt from famine. He was freed and put into a position of power. His brothers came looking to get some food, so Joseph decided to **** with them for a little bit. After that his brothers, their families and father was invited to stay in Egypt. Generations later the Jews grew in numbers and were enslaved by the Egyptians and sometime later Moses came along and freed their asses.

If you are going to try to recite scripture then you should probably at least bother to know what the scriptures were referring to.

I was talking about the 700 mile section approved when GWB was president. Repubs have had the house most of the time since then.

I case you forgot, there was a time when the repub party wanted to open up that border and make really friendly with Mexico. And that was about getting latino voters for the repubs (a Rove/GWB idea). Then 9/11 happened.

Sorry - no time to find a better source:
Bush Seeks Unlimited Immigration And Amnesty For Illegals

BTW, I agree with most of your post, but I don't think Trump's "big, beautiful wall" would be a cost effective solution to people and goods making it illegally in/out of this country on the southern side. Parts of it, yes, much of it, no.

It's not like the US gov. owns all of that land. There will never be a "Great Wall of America" end-to-end on our southern border, let alone one paid for by Mexico the way Trump promised.

No party is without culpability here.

That's irrelevant. What's relevant is Dems have said they will shut down the government unless they get DACA legislated.

Therefore, if you oppose DACA legislation, you have to accept the logical outcome: that the government will shut down.

Spin is spelled with a capital S.

Go back and read your own words for once and what they sound like:

"Ended up?" Your choice of wording in the above posts is remarkably soft on slavery. I'm still wondering whether you believe that enslavement is morally wrong. These days, who knows what conservatives will say.

There is no deal, did you read your link?

When I posted the link there was a deal - dated 11 Jan. Thing is links update with information / changes and such on a regular basis.
My post was on Jan 11 - new link is dated 12 Jan

I know what I said they were welcomed in and later turned into slaves.
