Inside Trump's two days of fury - CNN today[W:21]

I saw his tweet regarding North Korea, the whole world saw it. He literally did that, he was the source.

Sure...we all saw the tweet. But what we DON'T know is whether CNN's "report" is true.

...which caught many top administration officials off guard and prompted renewed worry among staff and allies about whether the President fully comprehends the risks he's taking in provoking adversaries.

Are you prepared to take it on faith that CNN...or their unnamed sources...are telling you the truth?

You are right, we don't know if CNN's report is true. And quite frankly, when I consider any of the current MSM's reports, especially CNN (due to their performance during the election) I look for corroborating stories from other sources, including foreign sources like the BBC. Even then you have to filter noise and get to the heart of the report. Ignoring any obvious bias. Almost all the MSM sources will what should be an OPED as a legitimate news story.

Honestly I fall behind on some of this stuff. Trump makes criticizing him easy. If he would just stay off social media and quit acting like a hormone driven teenager talking smack to other politicians and world leaders, it would take a great deal of fuel away from his detractors. But seriously, the guy pulls that stuff down on top of himself on the reg.

You also have to filter out the echo chamber reporting. Just because CNN reports something and 10 other organizations report that they reported the story, that doesn't mean the original story is true.

As Trump says, his tweets is really the only way he can get his voice honestly heard. But then, invariably, the Mainstream Media spins his words into something entirely different.

So it goes...

I agree, that is a risk. At the end of the day we all have to rely on our instincts as to whether or not we will accept the validity of the story. We all find a way to reconcile our doubts and take a position.

Well I have to say, his tweets are one of the reason he is so criticized. His voice being heard, unfiltered, straight from his brain to social media. Some things are better left unsaid when it comes to certain topics. I will agree with you that the MSM tends to take his words and extrapolate. Sometimes it's reasonable, sometimes it's over the top and obviously just an attempt to make him look worse. But I think we all do that to each other at times. Kind of like "Oh I heard what you said, but what that really means is this...blah blah blah." I think it's just natural that it occurs when two opposing sides engage in a fierce debate. Sometimes objectivity gets substituted with emotion.

Inside Trump's 48 hours of fury - CNNPolitics

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump started 2018 in a fury partly fueled by anger at his legal team for offering shifting timelines about when the Russia investigation would end, according to two sources familiar with the President's mindset.

The anger continued until midday Wednesday as Trump helped draft his blistering break-up letter to former chief strategist Steve Bannon, who offered a scathing attack on Trump and his family's handling of the Russia investigation.

That followed his taunting tweet Tuesday evening directed at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which caught many top administration officials off guard and prompted renewed worry among staff and allies about whether the President fully comprehends the risks he's taking in provoking adversaries. After Trump's North Korea broadside, aides inside the White House reached out to some of Trump's allies seen as having influence over the President to talk to him about his tweets and the risks they carry.
It's a bitter shift for a President who, just days ago, merrily rang in the New Year at his Florida resort dancing alongside a party-hatted first lady to Gloria Gaynor's persistence anthem "I Will Survive" and told The New York Times he felt special counsel Robert Mueller would treat him "fairly." Trump, who always loves his time at Mar a Lago, is readjusting to life in an icy Washington where the Russia probe looms and global flashpoints test his leadership skills with sometimes harrowing results.

This account of Trump's explosive first days of 2018 is based on interviews Wednesday with a dozen White House officials, lawmakers and other Republicans. It depicts a volatile President intent as ever on shaking the country's political norms, even as he faces crucial deadlines in the coming weeks on immigration and government funding.
===================================================================================================
Lingering Russia collusion probe, Bannon in new book, saber rattling directed at North Korea - 2018 is shaping up to be very unpleasant for Donald Trump... and likely the rest of us as well. For a man used to being in control, he must find control over events slipping away from him.

The man is coming apart at the seams.

You may have a point, however it has become the medias job to sensationalize.

Trump is the one who took it from his advantage in the primaries to starting a war with.them.

You make a very valid claim. It wasn't like he didn't pick a fight with them first. However, I still cling to the idea that our news sources should be objective and report on things honestly and without bias. That really doesn't seem to happen much. I turn to various non-American sources to try and gather a more objective picture about what is going on here. And hear about other things of importance going on around the world.

I get little of my news from the US. Foreign papers, like the Guardian, Canada's right-leaning National Post, the Vancouver sun and especially CBC radio. None of them have a dog in the hunt it makes no difference to us which American sits in the Oval Office, from Canadian soil there is little difference between the two parties excepting the usual 'ideological' bull****.

Having said that, I was a professional journalist for many years and can spot a 'slant' rather easily. I believe the the beliefe that the US media is so biased has been exaggerated; Americans are easily conditioned. Obama never did have an easy ride in the press, in fact his great lie on a great lie "what I said was you can keep your plan until the insurance companies change it" was torn to shreds by ABC and CBC before Obama was back in the limo.

Actually, Trump DIDN'T pick a fight with them first. The Mainstream Media was all for Trump when they wanted him to win the primary. They thought that was the best thing that could happen for Hillary. But when he actually DID win the primary, they changed their tune and commenced their attacks. That's when Trump fought back.

The Mainstream Media was never objective, honest or without bias from the day Trump descended his golden escalator to today.

The limit is five, he had to ration.

Anyways, the Bannon and Trump relationship is just the gift that keeps on giving. They almost sound like one of Trump's TV shows. Bannon plays the bad unappealing bad guy, and Trump is just... well Trump. The problem is that no matter who wins the fight between these two, we all lose.

Agreed you really can tell if a particular story has a slant and skim it off the top. Some.cable stations need more skimming, however more often than not there is some truth in there.

Mainstream Media=Any media that isn't Right Wing propaganda

Most Americans follow the evening news...Best you keep it off...It won't look good for your guy trump tonight

I never watch the evening news. Heck, I don't even own a TV. Besides, I tend to avoid talking potato heads.

I leave that stuff to the useful idiots.

I think he is one of those low-information voters that I saw in their trailer parks along the interstate highways here in PA.

My how adult of you.

I hold a B.S. in engineering. Low information I am not.

I am a member of my State Republican party, and I participate.

I just can not stand left wind Democrats. :2wave:

Sorry but they have earned it, over and over again. Now we find out that they are a criminal enterprise as well..

but I digress... :lamo
