WASHINGTON — Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort filed a lawsuit against Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the U.S. Justice Department in federal court on Wednesday, arguing that the federal probe that charged him is operating outside the law.
.
.
.
Manafort's lawsuit claimed that Mueller should not have scrutinized his lobbying work and tax filings in 2014 in connection to a probe into the 2016 election. The lawsuit also reveals that Manafort voluntarily met with Justice Department prosecutors and FBI agents in 2014 to discuss his overseas lobbying work.

The court filing asks that a federal judge place an injunction on Rosenstein, Mueller and the Justice Department to restrict them from performing their duties.

He should be right, and he might find a judge to rule in his favor, but the work of THE HATCHET MAN (My term for Mueller..which I claim is the real job he was hired to do)) will not be impeded by those lower judges I spect, and I cant imagine SCOTUS getting in his way now that they are primarily a political body rather than a legal body.

So he met with the FBI and Justice Department then, they gave him the OK, and then decided to turn around and prosecute him. Reminds me of when Jeff Sessions got advice from the FBI about how to disclose his meetings with Russians, they advised him that he didn't have to disclose, and then they retroactively leaked info so that he'd recuse himself.

The ends justify the means of course, this is 2018, and our justice system is crappola.

Publicity stunt.

This will be interesting.
It is going to depend on the judge.

People have said muller was going outside the scope of his investigation and so do a lot of other people.
It is just how far will the court allow him to go.

If he the state department cpgave him clearance in 2014 then nothin he did was illegal for 2016.

Last act of a very, very desperate man. He must no longer be relying on being part of a mass pardon package.

That's quite hyperbolic...
Your statement looked hyperbolic to me.'

Those have all been the positions of the Trump White House and people on this very forum, and certainly Fox news.
Do we really have to get quotes of each of these and you'll then believe them?
FBI tainted is running now, you agree that's their position?
DOJ, same
Courts have been discussed since the campaign, surely in the Muslim ban too.
The media is the enemy, we can quote Trump saying this 20 times almost verbatim.
Deep state, you guys have been running with this since the election.

This doesn't even go far enough, it's just a summarized cartoon.

The guy got caught violating a slew of laws, and now his defense is the body that investigated him doesn't have the authority to do so. Good luck with that argument, I guess, but it's hard to imagine how Mueller could look into ties between senior members of the campaign with Russia, Russia collusion, etc. without, as step 1 or 2 of 100 or more, following the money trail, and that trail led straight to the crimes he's charged with. It's not like he's been charged with cavorting with prostitutes or having consensual sex with an underling or something, but having large and very significant financial ties with the country that allegedly tried to influence our election.

If anything, looks like he's trying to build a case for a possible Trump pardon, by spreading the idea in public than his prosecution is somehow illegitimate. It might work with Trump lemmings, but not with anyone else I suspect.

And all of those people are idiots.

I say that he is giving the courts the chance to do the right thing, and that they wont.

Exactly. This has no chance at all of success and Manafort will be left trying to tell the court why he did the things he did when he sold his own sorry ass to foreign powers and he will end up in prison for it

The financial ties between Trump and Russia go to motive and the reason Trump has had his nose so far up Putins rear corridor and then tells him about the scent of roses in the air.

Mannafort has nothing to lose now, and so he is dangerous.

Good on him for showing some spine.

But the system is too broken.

This will not work.
