Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book [W:124]

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

What evidence do you have that said material would have to have been "leaked" by now? Is it automatic in the US that details of an investigation get leaked, such a normal event that you DOUBT any wrongdoing BECAUSE it has not been leaked?
Buy your logic asinine.

The Russia collusion investigation began back in July of 2016, when Christopher Steele briefed the FBI on the contents of a dossier that was actually just oppo-research funded by the DNC and the Hillary campaign. Thats over a year and half of investigations and still, no " overwhelming evidence " has been produced.

As for the leaks ? Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee issued a report on the avalanche of leaks that followed Trumps inauguration.

Senate Republicans: Leaks harming national security | TheHill

“Since President Trump assumed office, our nation has faced an unprecedented wave of potentially damaging leaks of information,” said the report from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

"Under President Trump, leaks are flowing at the rate of one a day," the report says, citing an examination of open-source material by the majority staff of Johnson's committee.

"Articles published by a range of national news organizations between January 20 and May 25, 2017 included at least 125 stories with leaked information potentially damaging to national security. Even a narrow search revealed leaks of comparable information during the Trump administration that were about seven times higher than the same period during the two previous administrations."

Many of the leaks have been related to investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election."that the Trump administration faced 125 leaks potentially damaging to national security in 126 days — a “conservative estimate,” it noted."

LOGIC dictates that during this time this " overwhelming evidence " would have made it to the NYTs or WaPo at least once.

I suggest you may want to re-visit that thinking, if anything there being no leaks suggests the investigation is on a higher professional plane than what some Americans are used to..

When did this investigation achieve a higher professional plane ? Before or after Mueller hired Peter Sztrok ? Before or after Mueller hired Lisa Page ? Andrew Weissmann ? Aaron Zebley, who represented Justin Cooper, a key figure in the Clinton email controversy ?

Lets be honest, you people abandoned logic and replaced it with seething Trump hatred.

Nonsense

McCabe draws blank on Democrats’ funding of Trump dossier, new subpoenas planned
McCabe draws blank on Democrats? funding of Trump dossier, new subpoenas planned | Fox News

McCabe testified under oath that the only allegation that the FBI could corroborate was Page's trip to Moscow, and when asked when he learned the dossier was funded by the DNC and the Hillary campaign, he couldn't remember.

So you can continue to repeat that crap to your hearts content, that " much of the dossier was substantiated ", but its a bald face lie.

Methinks you protest too much. You know damn well that the dossier is full of things we now know to be true. The transfer of hacked material from Russia to Wikileaks, the meetings in Trump tower were all mentioned in the document..

Just 11 days after that meeting – but more than a year before it became public – Steele quoted a source as saying that “the Kremlin had been feeding Trump and his team valuable intelligence on his opponents, including Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton”, for several years.

A later report, dated 19 July 2016, said: “Speaking in confidence to a compatriot in late July 2016, Source E, an ethnic Russian close associate of Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump, admitted that there was a well-developed conspiracy of cooperation between them and the Russian leadership.”

Many of my former CIA colleagues have taken [the Steele] reports seriously since they were first published,” wrote John Sipher, a former senior officer in the CIA’s National Clandestine Service on the Just Security website.
“This is not because they are not fond of Trump (and many admittedly are not), but because they understand the potential plausibility of the reports’ overall narrative based on their experienced understanding of both Russian methods and the nature of raw intelligence reporting.

Let's be honest. You are mad because a leak forced the firing of Flynn whom we now know was on Russia's payroll while he occupied the most sensitive job in the NSA. You think that he should have been free to leak every secret the NSA has to his Russian handlers and that makes you a co-conspirator in treason.

:lamo :lamo

8 min video- really- what portion/part- min mark makes your point. Not many want to listen to 8 plus minutes of Bannon and try to figure out what wrong point you are attempting to make.

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

This was always a money laundering case. When I heard Trump sold a property that he paid 40 mill for to a Russian who paid him 100 million even though Trump could not give the house away. I thought of money laundering. When I heard the house that was sold was leveled by the same Russian.....why would you pay 2.5 times for a property and not keep the house. Unless you didn't pay 100 million but only washed about 50 million. Also remember the Mueller team was meeting with Trumps lawyers. Maybe the jig is up. Got to go Trumpy's I hear my popcorn popping

Lol !! Im mad because Flynn got fired ? Im rarely " mad ", and as a rule dont devote a lot of energy to the problems of total strangers.

Truth is the last year has been quite entertaining. Its started off well with Trumps victory over Hillary, then from there got even better when Neil Gorsuch became a Supreme Court Justice, and kept improving as Trump rolled back one onerous Obama regulation after the other

To end the year, the GOPs passed a awesome tax reform bill that was signed into law. Its all good

As for the Mueller investigation ? Its the epitome of Left wing desperation and its done FAR more damage to the Left wing partisans who after over a year of investigations are left hopelessly clinging to bits of fake news

Over the course of Muellers investigation we've learned that the FBI relied on Democrat funded opposition research to launch a huge investigation into alledged collusion and used that dossier to obtain FISA warrants.

We learned that the ONLY allegation in the dossier corroberated by the FBI was Pages trip to Moscow.

We've learned about a " meeting in Andy's office " and the existence of a " insurance policy " because Trump winning was too much of a " risk "

We learned that a Obama DOJ assistant deputy AG met with Christoper Steele and that his wife was hired by Fusion GPS to manufacture anti-Trump allegations

We learned someone in the Obama administration used Samantha Powers identity and security clearance to unmask Trump campaign officials at a rate of one per day

We learned that the FBI was far more concerned with locating the reporter that exposed the Tarmac meeting than they were eith the blatant ethical violations that meeting represented.

This list of Obama era corruption thats being exposed seems endless and keeps growing while you guys continue to spin your wheels on either collusion or obstruction, which ever makes more sense that day I guess.

Jesus H Christ, are you really THAT lazy ? And two posters actually " liked " your post. You dont even have to watch the entire 8 minutes, try the first 30 seconds where Bannon says the whole " collusion thing is a joke ".

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

What triggered the surveillance?

The very suspicious election of a completely unqualified criminal/con artist to the U.S. presidency...

Two quick reactions
1- I cannot wait to read the Wolff book from cover to cover
2- I would not trust Bannon as far as I could throw him--- but it is interesting and revealing as to how far he will go in his war against the establishment. If Bannon is accurately quoted that the Trump Tower meeting with Russians was treasonous - I would have to agree with him...... perhaps not in strictly legal terms but certainly in the spirit of the action.

Bannon joins the Resistance.

Why did Rosenstein meet with the Speaker today ?

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

Now there is a simple reason....

Wrong! He probably knows more about it than any left winger does..
Michael Wolff?s ?Fire and Fury?: Inside Trump?s White House
Everybody in his rich-guy social circle knew about his wide-ranging ignorance. Early in the campaign, Sam Nunberg was sent to explain the Constitution to the candidate. “I got as far as the Fourth Amendment,” Nunberg recalled, “before his finger is pulling down on his lip and his eyes are rolling back in his head.

You will be relieved then that everything you spent so much time and effort posting and worried about for the past 18 months or so is bogus, conspiracy BS. Chalk up everything you wrote as being "fake news."

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

Bannon Bashing trump....Great stuff....Like a scorpion and a tarantula stinging themselves over and over

I guess you are just not that bright about how investigations work. They get a tip. Then they gather evidence and try for more tips. THEN usually when they have enough to book they interview the guy in hopes of getting him to turn states evidence on another. But it is cute that you thought it all starts by interviewing a suspect first before any evidence is gathered.

You are bending into one of the world's ugliest pretzel trying to dig out of this. I'm quite enjoying this Cirque du Soleil show you are putting on.

Well, a FISA warrant is about trying to determine whether there is a security issue. So if this guy is shooting his mouth off about Russian contacts, he ought to have been the one surveilled. I mean, he is the problem.
Instead, they go after Carter Page, which is pretty amazing considering that Page is mentioned in the dossier.

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

The left clearly has Borderline Personality Disorder, as evidenced by their complete flip flop:

January, 2016-

Steve Bannon is not to be trusted! No one listen to him, plug your ears!

January, 2017-

Steve Bannon said it, it must be true!

You got the years wrong... but it's more like:

January, 2017-

Steve Bannon is a lunatic! What the hell is he doing in the oval office?

January, 2018-

Steve Bannon was in the oval office as the "chief strategist". Now Trump is calling him a "staffer" rather than refuting anything he said. :lamo

Bannon is a creep....A low life...But I'm thinking he is definitely telling the truth in his book...Exposing trump and the goons under trump for the idiots they are...Way to go Steve

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

I'm definitely not a fan of his. The point is that he's hitting the administration from a relative blind side.

But so you like him enough to believe in his words now? Just like you hated Comey - until you started liking and believing him? Just like you hated Dubya - until you started liking and believing his taste for presidential candidates?

I think "overwhelming evidence" is generally reserved for making arrests.

Maybe you forgot, but there HAVE been leaks from the FBI. One such leak was a full month before the FBI pressed charges:

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

Bottom line is Mueller is running a tight-lipped ship. How long had Papadopoulos been originally brought on to work for the FBI before the public knew about it?

He is certainly living up to his reputation, which was hailed by the "new right" when he was named. They're pissed because he can't be intimidated. A man who has studied Leon Jaworski, I suspect.

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

I honestly dont know whats more funny...knowing that for the last year or so the leftists have been jerking themselves off in their hatred over Steve Bannon or that in the span 24 hours the same people that have been expressing their hatred for the man are now applying Vaseline and jumping on his anti Trump boner.

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

We're specifically talking about why the investigation was started.
Because of overwhelming evidence of "a situation that needed to be further investigated by the FBI". Evidence of Russia meddling and connections to the Trump campaign (CIA, NSA, FBI, Dossier, Papadapous's drunken rant/Australia, Trumps' public love affair with Putin, etc.) was sufficient to warrant an investigation to determine all of the relevant facts, and to see if there were direct links to the Trump campaign, and anything else thy may find (per Rosenstein's order). They are acting like it was only the dossier, which was itself an overwhelming amount of evidence that pointed to the need for an FBI investigation. Either way.

Maybe you forgot, but there HAVE been leaks from the FBI. One such leak was a full month before the FBI pressed charges:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...nce-bring-charges-flynn-investigation-n817666
I think there are two issues.
One is the how many leaks are coming out of this white house, vs the FBI.
Two, it's hard for us to tell which leaks from the FBI are intentional mind-games to flush game, pressure, etc., and which are legit "leaks".

Lots of us measure on the compass slightly left/libertarian - good place to be :)

Time will tell whether or not Bannon and Comey, et al are telling the truth. But it seems you're really worried that your intelligence and judgment will be called into question if it turns out you support a president whose campaign, family and possibly the POTUS himself conspired with the Russians to taint our election, attack our sovereignty, get cover from the majority party in Congress, embraced by a propaganda machine fake news press and our most basic Constitutional rights threatened by a GOP acting in their own best interest instead of our Democracy.

What are your motives?

Re: Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”, according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian.

Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted: “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”[/INDENT]

1.) I'm honestly almost willing to start making bets that the Trump administration will not survive the year. It's also critical that Bannon pointed out the money-laundering, which to my mind was always the most likely thing for Trump to have done because he's greedy, he's stupid, and he had access.

2.) Trump has never been this weak before. Whether or not it's admitted to now, this is the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency. He's not going to get good press on Breitbart now, meaning that Bannon is the one person who can cut into Trump's popular support among his fervent supporters --they'll never listen to reason or evidence, but they do listen to Bannon. I think this is the first time that Trump's going to break into the 20's, and it'll happen within a few months. Congressional Republicans now have a looming midterm that they could very easily loose, and they also have Mueller's investigation looming over Trump's heads. They just got the tax cuts passed, so they've appeased their donors and gotten the one thing out of him that they need. This means that Trump is all out of uses for the Establishment Republicans, and he's all out of media friends. And not only is he likely to cause heavy losses for Congressional Republicans in the midterms, but if he gets indicted after the midterms (and possibly brings Pence down with him), a Democrat could be sitting as president before 2020 by way of being the Speaker of the House. So Trump is now just a huge ticking time bomb for the Republican leadership.

I would lay good money down now that Trump cannot survive this. Trump finally ****ed up in a way that makes his presidency unsalvageable.

3.) Regarding Bannon's motivations, he appears to have two primary motivations. The first is that Bannon is genuinely terrified of getting caught up in Trump's ****storm. I may have mentioned it on here or somewhere else, but Bannon very well could be gearing up for a 2020 run, trying to grab Trump's base from him as he falls and really pushing his platform of economic nationalism. If it works, he'll nearly instantaneously be the biggest threat to the Democrats, but that's a big "if."

What are you talking about? I never said I liked Bannon... cause I don't. Your straw man is a major fail.
