Ivanka Trump?s Defense for Wearing Her Company?s Clothing Is ?Laughable,? Former Ethics Chief Says

First daughter Ivanka Trump’s defense for her documented practice of wearing her company’s dresses, jewelry, bags and shoes to political events is “laughable,” a former ethics chief under ex-President Barack Obama said.

Trump wore apparel for sale from her company, IT Collection LLC, in 46 out of 68, or 68 percent, of pictures she posted on her social media accounts from March to October, converting herself into a “walking billboard for her brand,” The Wall Street Journal reported last week.

The first daughter responded to the report with an emailed statement: “If what motivated me was to grow my businesses and make money, I would have stayed in New York and done just that.”

Walter Shaub, who was director of the Office of Government Ethics, also said on CNN's New Day show Tuesday morning that a misuse of government position for private gain is the “international definition of corruption."

How shallow can some folks be?

Who cares what she wears? If she has a line of clothing, it makes sense that she'd wear her stuff -- and not something designed and manufactured by someone else. Are all of her clothes and shoes visibly labeled with her name? Does she come right out and say "This is from my line...?"

If not then they're just clothes.

What's the next whiny-baby thing we're going to hear?

No, "broad" is the wrong term. "Absurd" or "insane" would be more accurate.

Would this be the same ethics guy who remained silent for years while Michelle Obama's mother lived in the WH, while Obama undermined the investigation into Hezbollah, and while the C.I.A. was arming and training terrorists in Syria? That ethics guy?

Yes, you should feel burned, so burned that you take on as your life's mission beginning threads every day about how terrible they are. And don't let worries about being petty slow you down. You never know who else will be just furious if Ivanka wears a nail polish whose name or country of manufacture is unacceptable and what righteous goals you may accomplish.

ivanka has a fashion line. wearing her own clothes is no different than a daughter who was a seamstress wearing the clothes she has tailored for herself

show something that tells us she is using official appearances to market her brand of clothing/accessories and i will share your objection to that. simply wearing her line of clothes does not constitute such marketing

In accepting her government appointment in January, Ivanka promised not to have anything to do with her designer companies and brands to avoid any conflict of interest.

The Trump WH even chastised KellyAnne Conway for publicly pushing Ivanka's brands....

Yet both Donald and Ivanka push their business brands in public constantly. They can't have it both ways, claiming to embrace certain ethical practices while purposefully violating those very practices everyday.

It's interesting that after I posted this all the right wingers piled on me, including a Moderator who could have PMed me who chose to message me publicly. Thanks for backing me up on this too obvious conflict of interest by the Trump crime family.
