Ivanka trump’s defense for wearing her company’s clothing is ‘laughable,’ former ethics chief says

Lol, this is absolutely ridiculous. I wonder if anyone told Armani he was a douche for wearing his own suits.

So you support her multiple conflicts of interest?

How shallow can some folks be?

Who cares what she wears? If she has a line of clothing, it makes sense that she'd wear her stuff -- and not something designed and manufactured by someone else. Are all of her clothes and shoes visibly labeled with her name? Does she come right out and say "This is from my line...?"

If not then they're just clothes.

What's the next whiny-baby thing we're going to hear?

You should care about her multiple conflicts of interest.

Please PM me with this kind of stuff. Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think mods are allowed to join in discussions and post, too.

All I see is another poster expressing an opinion.

But, I think the majority of posters here have weighed in against putting any importance on stories like this. And, it's not really your fault. You didn't write the piece, you only posted it. It's interesting, not because of the clothes Ivanka is choosing to wear but because the writer of the piece actually thought it was "news." We've just heard so many of these types of articles, that we become numb and incredulous. It's not really you. You gave us a spirited thread after all.

Out of curiosity, is there anything at all you folks aren't pissed off about?

I don't appreciate her multiple conflicts of interest.

Her multiple conflicts of interest should concern you. What worries me is that you apparently don't give a ****.

I myself don't think so. Ivanka is a multi-millionaire who can easily afford designer clothes and accessories.

In accepting her government appointment in January, Ivanka promised not to have anything to do with her designer companies and brands to avoid any conflict of interest.

The Trump WH even chastised KellyAnne Conway for publicly pushing Ivanka's brands....

White House rebukes Kellyanne Conway for promoting Ivanka Trump products

Yet both Donald and Ivanka push their business brands in public constantly. They can't have it both ways, claiming to embrace certain ethical practices while purposefully violating those very practices everyday.

If this had happened during the Obama administration - I can only imagine the screaming.

Your definition of "corruption" seems a bit broad.

No, "broad" is the wrong term. "Absurd" or "insane" would be more accurate.

Read multiple conflicts of interest instead of corruption though they boil down to the same thing.

What Kellyanne Conway did was very wrong, and she was, as I recall, taken to task by the Ethics Commission or some such group on that. I don't fault Ivanka for wearing her own label's clothing. Now, if she was publicly telling people to buy what she was wearing, like Conway did, that would be a problem. But wearing her clothes? I'm not sure that constitutes an ethics violation. It may be obnoxious, but it isn't crossing a line compared to the Conway situation, which was.

Thank you, Howard.

Even the article doesn't cite a conflict of interest. It says she's "coming close". Include with that the absolutely moronic statement about Trump trying to "monetize the presidency" and you can feel free to write off this "expert" as another in a long line of Trump haters who like to see their name in print.

Ivanka Trump?s Defense for Wearing Her Company?s Clothing Is ?Laughable,? Former Ethics Chief Says

First daughter Ivanka Trump’s defense for her documented practice of wearing her company’s dresses, jewelry, bags and shoes to political events is “laughable,” a former ethics chief under ex-President Barack Obama said.

Trump wore apparel for sale from her company, IT Collection LLC, in 46 out of 68, or 68 percent, of pictures she posted on her social media accounts from March to October, converting herself into a “walking billboard for her brand,” The Wall Street Journal reported last week.

The first daughter responded to the report with an emailed statement: “If what motivated me was to grow my businesses and make money, I would have stayed in New York and done just that.”

Walter Shaub, who was director of the Office of Government Ethics, also said on CNN's New Day show Tuesday morning that a misuse of government position for private gain is the “international definition of corruption."

This is almost as bad as Kellyanne Conway hawking Ivanka's line on Fox & Friends: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/09/us/politics/kellyanne-conway-ivanka-trump-ethics.html. It's not about making America great again but making the Trump family richer on the Government dime.

are you kldding?

you are concerned with what Ivanka is wearing?

If she wasnt wearing her brand, what would she be wearing? And why would she "promote" another designers clothes?

omg....sheer idiocy

Whiny baby as in Trumps constant twitter melt downs? Like his personal comments about certain members of the MSM? You have higher standards for a bunch of strangers on a forum then you do Trump, and that speaks volumes about your thought process.

Just because other people are as out of whack as you are only means you're not alone. It doesn't mean you're right.

Spoken like a true conservative.

Can't the same be said for your side?

There's no monopoly on gathering idiots. That being said, if you find yourself surrounded with idiots you might want to reevaluate your associations.

Ivanka is modeling her brand and by so doing, promoting sales of her brand. This is how fashion is sold in today's world. Find a high profile individual to wear your clothes in public, in pictures, on social media. When she accepted her administration appointment she said she would not do this. But yet she does.

If anyone points this out, her gallant supporters tie themselves into pretzels defending the poor little rich girl who has nothing else to wear!!

SAD

Don't you even have some paint you can watch dry instead of this?
