Everyone has a right to free speech, even if it is ridiculous speech. America has never been "gay". Gays make up no more than a few percentage points of the population. But hey, the regressive left are stupid, they don't seem to know any better.

It isn't just Pence whose personal beliefs are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It happens to be the majority opinion among evangelicals/Christians. It is also the belief among Muslims. It is also the belief among a good number of Jews. The overwhelming majority of the three major faiths believe marriage is between a male and a female.

Pat Robertson, said the US would be destroyed if it approved gay marriage

American family association said that Isis will destroy the US ("What if God will use the pagan armies of Allah to discipline the United States for our debauchery?") due to gay marriage.

The Family founder James Dobson said that the backlash to any gay marriage decision will be so divisive as to cause a "full-blown civil war," and that

Gay marriage will destroy the institution of marriage, etc. etc. etc. etc.

So don't tell me no one expected the world to end with gay marriage because that clearly is not the message some extremist religious people proclaimed.

And nobody is attacking people of faith, nobody is forcing a church to marry people or people to approve of gay marriage, the issue is not that christians suddenly have to approve of gay marriage, the issue is that people who are gay should be able to get married. This is not a religious issue but a human rights issue.

One horrible realization is that if Trump is impeached and convicted and removed from office we are left with Pence who, in his own way, is no better than Trump. Maybe in some ways Pence would be worse.

Personally, I don't care what Mike Pence believes as long as he leaves it at the house. Honestly, I seriously doubt Pence is capable of doing that. I doubt seriously religionists would allow him to.

That works too, but electricity isn't exactly "wasted". When the public utilities learned that they could charge for producing and distributing energy en mass, electricity became a commodity with economic parameters placed upon it.

It is why the public utilities are so opposed to people who go off grid and generate their own electricity - or go sans electricity all together.

What other natural phenomenon that has been around since the inception of the planet but only corralled and put to worldwide use about 150 years a go and which the world did fine without for at almost 6,000 years is now deemed a "necessity" so much that a house that is not "plugged in" is deemed unfit for human habitation and people who use solar panels and go off grid are put in jail because they won't help the PUC' (public utility companies) make money?

Dunno why you would think of me as "tolerant". I have been a Republican all my life. I left the party when it became "tolerant" of racism, sexism, blatant bigotry etc. When I realized how truly awful the people that I was associating myself with I ran from the party as fast as possible. What is left in the repub party is garbage that I'm not going to associate with just to claim some kinda win.
