The incident happened at an apartment near the 3400 block of County Line Road, according to Lauren Lekander, DCSO spokeswoman.
1 killed, 4 wounded.
Sad day

One of the wealthier suburbs around Denver. I read just a few minutes ago that they believe the shooter has been killed.

Wow. Sad day.

Countdown to blaming "liberals" or Democrats in 3, 2, 1.....

It is. Could be the guy planned to go out in a blaze

One deputy has been killed, and four others and two civilians injured, in an incident in suburban Denver, authorities have said.

The suspected gunman is believed to have been killed.

The Douglas County sheriff’s office said via its Twitter account that shots were fired in the course of the investigation and “multiple” deputies were injured.

The shooting happened at the Copper Canyon Apartments in Highlands Ranch. The landscaped apartment complex is 16 miles (28km) south of Denver.

Residents in the vicinity were advised to stay inside and avoid exterior walls and windows.

My deep condolences to the family of the slain officer. New Year's Eve will always now be a tragic day for them.

Godspeed to all the injured.

Tragic and heartbreaking.

I'd just read an article yesterday about how attacks on police officers are 'at their lowest levels since the early 90's'. I think these journalists make it up as they go along.

wtf? Statistics define trends. Just because something is happening less often doesn't mean it doesn't happen ever. This is why many people think Trump supporters are stupid. But I get that it's not stupidity; it's just the zealous pursuit of your larger agenda of discrediting media, which is worse, because your playing dumb to forward ideological interests.

This can happen anywhere. The shooter can just shoot at anything that moves. The police have to pinpoint the individual and be certain not to injure any innocents nearby. The shooter has the advantage here.
But luckily for us he will lose in the end.

I feel for the families out there on this holiday season. A senseless stupid shooting of officers and civilians.

LAW ENFORCEMENT FACTS
Deadliest Days in Law Enforcement History

July 7, 2016
Dallas (TX) Police Officer Michael Krol, Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa, Sergeant Michael Smith, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens and Dallas Rapid Area Transit Police Officer Brent Thompson were mortally wounded in an ambush attack during a protest in Dallas, Texas. The suspect was killed during a standoff with police.

November 29, 2009
Four members of the Lakewood (WA) Police Department were shot and killed in an ambush attack as they sat in a coffee shop.

March 21, 2009
Four members of the Oakland (CA) Police Department were shot and killed by the same gunman in two related incidents.

September 11, 2001
The deadliest day in U.S. law enforcement history, 72 officers were killed as a result of the terrorist attacks on America.

The Obama years were particularly bad for police officers, predictable outcome given Obama's past as a community organizer. All 3 police massacres during Obama's presidency had black suspects, yet the media never connected those dots, only the ones that pushed their narrative of racist cops supposedly unfairly targeting minorities.

I certainly lean left, but as a retired LEO I was deeply angered at the stance the Democrats took on law enforcement and race relations. They painted with a very wide brush and made the law enforcement community out to be a bunch racist cowboys running around and killing young black men for no reason at all. When that started I decided I would be voting 3rd party going forward.

This event is horrible. Sadly it's going to repeat itself. Sooner or later. It always does. Makes me sick to my stomach.

again wtf?

A sad day indeed.

1 killed, 4 wounded. That sounds like at least 3 patrol cars responded.

"They went into the house at the same time," Spurlock said in a press conference on Sunday.

"All of them were shot very, very quickly,"

If so, something must have already tipped the LEOs off about this situation, as is this the typical response to a disturbance call?

I do not know what is or is not typical. Perhaps past calls regarding the individual??

again wtf?

Obama actually hired a man who described himself as a 'communist revolutionary', and used to stalk police officers with a video camera, filming everything they did. We know where Obama stood in relationship to the thin blue line.

Could be. The OP's citation didn't provide these details, yet those details are pertinent to this story, IMHO.

Yes they are. As you mentioned, at least 5 Officers, 3 cars, I am guessing there were more on site, or shortly after. No idea of how many initially responded to the call.

Reports say the shooter was in a bathroom, would not come out, made a bunch of noise, and then started blasting...

And people wonder why some cops shoot first and ask questions later.

I doubt very much the individual would be able to produce the article is asked

Oh look, calamity is a tough on crime, conservative today. I wonder what he'll be tomorrow? No I don't.
