Nope- copied a portion of a previous post, something to consider from people on the ground, in the WH during Watergate. So no I do not see anything sinister, convenient or contrived.
From listening to John Dean and others from the Watergate era, he stated that the press was generally months behind on the timeline of actual events as the investigation proceeded. He did not disagree that the press was wrong, just months behind.
What John Dean said stuck with me and made sense, and was not contradicted from others from the period.
