President Trump Is the Second-Most Admired Man in America, Gallup Poll Finds - Time

And I'm one of the smart ones who didn't vote for either of them. What's your point, MR? Why is Trump being the first in generations to break the trend in this poll something to cheer about?

And once again, where did "the planet" come into this?

The planet comes into this because the poll asked Americans who was their most admired man and woman in the world. Trump came in ahead of Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama. I'm not the one who made this thread bragging about Obama being number one. I'm just saying that if we are going to accept the poll as Obama being the most admired man on the planet by Americans then we need to give Trump his due. Or, we can scrap both Obama and Trump for being in such a stupid and ridiculous poll. I'll accept whatever decision you want to make. We either accept both or we don't accept either.

"the planet" came in from a Trump supporter unfairly reporting the poll and dishonestly trying to make far far far more of it that what it actually was which was a poll of Americans and not the rest of the planet - which by the way is the other 95% of the world.

here it is for you

And just as importantly - none of those other 95% of people on the planet who are not Americans were allowed to vote for their preference. But try and tell that to the poster who made that false statement and you keep running into an ostrich hiding its head in the sand.

1049 Americans were polled. According to Gallup from their poll:

A quarter of Americans cannot name a man or a woman they admire most. Nine percent name a relative or friend as the most admired man, and 13% do so for the most admired woman.

But hey, let's just say Trump is the 2nd most admired man in the universe. Forget that only 1000 Americans were asked, and 14% of them said Trump. He's super duper popular!

Why are we limiting this to just the universe?

OMFG....

If you had read ANYTHING about the poll itself you would realize the only dishonesty in play is your right here and right now.

Math. Just do it.

This is why no one will ever take you seriously.

Continue being the butt of the joke all you like. I would rather have an intellectual debate and that means you will naturally be very far away.

I read the poll itself. What is it about haymarket's comment that was dishonest?

Plenty of people take me seriously here. Smart people. Rational people. Not like you.

I could really care less about the relationship between you and your big toes.

Of course, well lets see. The republicans almost elected someone who is a suspected child dater and someone who attacked a journalist. Pretty sure that indicates that people often ignore morality if an R is behind the name.

I don't believe the Republicans were the only voters voting in the senate election in Alabama. So your charge is false.

Irrational:

So, first you drop your ignorant tag line that I should take a civics or history course as if it means that you come from a place of education (or even the ability to apply some common sense to the economic history). But when I shove that in your face and embarrass you by demonstrating that I am well beyond a single course, you simply default to attacking that education. How very "conservative" and childish of you.

Irrational:

But not your success. Rewarding the success of your financial betters is exactly what Trump did. Business leaders are selfish by nature. Despite being argued for two months, it is now common knowledge what this Bill is all about. This is why the tax-cut Bill is what it is. Trickle Down does not work and despite the history (which you prove clueless to while telling others to take a course), you gladly bend over and beg for more.

Irrational:

Um, Obama's numbers? Good for you. It seems somebody was able to crack through that wall of ignorance after all. Weren't you one of the ones wanting Trump to get the credit for the economic and employment numbers for simply walking into the White House? As you finally seem aware now, Presidents inherit ongoing policies. If the numbers were worse, Obama would still be out of office and still be properly given the credit. Trump hasn't been in Office long enough to really affect much of anything aside from, as a businessman, the stock market mood. But again, like the new tax-cut Bill, Wall Street is just another place where he seeks to reward his kind, not you. How are your stocks? Just kidding, we both know that this too has nothing to do with you.

Irrational:

Since the GOP begged you people not to vote for Trump, something else gave you Trump. Thank the Fox News propaganda machine that told you to believe that Global Warming was a liberal hoax, Obama was a secret Muslim born in a foreign country and hates America, Hillary purposefully had Americans murdered in Benghazi, and so many other irrational tactics that proved good enough to move the uneducated into a frenzied mob. A mob, by the way, made up of church-going Christians, who embraced an adulterer and began worshiping him as a false god.

I have an idea, take a civics or a history course. But try basket weaving first. Best to start slow.

The word irrational is certainly a term for ALL liberals because that is exactly what your post was irrational and non responsive. You obviously have no understanding of leadership or business experience at all for if you did you would understand that Trump is responsible for the economy and the results from day one in office and business leaders are forward planners who know they aren't going to be punished by Trump economic policies and are going to reap the benefits of their work without being overtaxed. Amazing isn't it how great Obama's numbers are NOW THAT HE IS OUT OF OFFICE??

Please educate yourself on leadership, civics, business planning and economics

How does someone else keeping more of what they earn hurt you.......? Short conservative answer used for the last 8 years, "the deficit is going to destroy the country". That's what the tea party and other republicans were shouting from the rooftops. Now the republicans just added more to it on purpose. So...either they were lying before and deficits don't matter or they do matter and the republicans don't care. Which is it? I know Ryan and others thought they could come back and trim a bunch from those dreaded welfare queen programs, and close the gap, but that was just wishful thinking. Instead, increase the funding for fraud investigation of all of those programs. Obama did that and had great results. So good that 5 years in and they never made it of Florida. The program has a return of 7 or 8 to 1, so boost the program. Get the damn criminals out of the systems. That's for starters.
And only conservatives suffer for making bad decisions? Really? What a stupid thing to say for someone who obviously is not. I live in a poor ass SE GA county and they vote 80/20 Republican/Democrat. And they are a food stamp using, welfare dependent bunch of republican voters. We have republican state representatives, we have republicans national representatives, and we have a republican governor. What they don't have are jobs. And they do lots of drugs. According to county law enforcement, that is apparently a problem.

Wrong, context matters, here is context

Reagan left country with 2.6 trillion in debt on a 5.2 trillion dollar economy, 50% debt to GDP
GW Bush left country with a 10.6 trillion dollar debt on a 14.7 trillion dollar economy, 70% Debt to GDP

Obama left the country with a 19.9 trillion dollar debt on an 18.5 trillion dollar economy, well over 100% of GDP

Get the picture yet? so again tell me how Trump is going to increase the deficit by lowering the Obama budget and by generating record new taxpayers in the form of jobs? Seems that actual data is foreign to people like you

Suggest you go to BEA.gov, BLS.gov, and Treasury.org to stop letting the left make you look and sound foolish

Yeah, you are quite wrong there. My comment had to do with how morality goes out of the window for a large swatch of republican voters if there is an R behind their name. Whether it concerns the journalist attacking one, the accused one who was said to have inappropriate affairs with children to the current president who actually said to grab women by the *****.

That view among some republicans is actually accurate and the close election in Alabama is indicative of that.

There aren't enough unemployed that are employable to make up the difference. And you leave out that they left all of the corporate loopholes and exemptions in place, as well as the special accommodations for hedge fund types. Oh and added more for real estate types too. The rate for pass through's has already been seen as a boon for many to escape to a lower rate. You are just looking at the glowing projections and ignoring the reality that this was just a means to the end of gutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Trump doesn't even know what he signed. After all he literally said, "this tax bill is going to hurt me personally". If he knew what was in it, then he's a liar.

Corporate loopholes, evil rich being given a tax cut, don't you people ever get tired of the bull**** and being made a fool of? How does any corporation or rich person keeping more of what they earn hurt you, your family, or the country? I look at results NOT projections, you buy rhetoric and ignore results. Context matters but not to you. What did he mean when he said it would hurt him???? He is rich, doesn't that contradict your leftwing comments?

Sorry sport but you are showing your political bias. It has been my experience to see that the Democrats do exactly what you are trying to blame the Republicans for. Does the name Hillary mean anything to you? As to what Trump has said in the past we all know he engages his mouth before his brain. :doh

Yup, my bias is there, but my comments had something to do with how republicans who normally claim to be having high morals, forget their moral views when they need to decide about someone with an R or a D behind their name. Both Trump and Moore are evidence of that.

Are there hypocritical instances of democratic faux outrage and then voting in a democrat regardless of how "immoral" that guy is? Sure, but most democrats are not "evangelicals" and are not boasting about their moral superior views.

My issue is with republicans (and to a degree democrats) is that partisan opinions is put aside over morality, country or reality. I would never vote for a candidate like Roy Moore for example even if he was a member of my party. Sorry, but that is my view. I would not vote for Al Franken if I would have known his behavior towards women, no matter how much he would be my party's candidate.

Oh we get the picture, we get the picture very clearly.

Debt is only bad when it's (D), not when it's created by (R), then its fine.

Absolutely, JFK was a Republican, Evan Bayh was a Republican, Hubert Humphrey was a Republican, Jimmy Carter was a Republican; all Democrats I voted for. You don't get the picture at all because you are incapable of researching actual results. Keep doing that and keep losing elections
