President Trump Is the Second-Most Admired Man in America, Gallup Poll Finds - Time

I'm taken seriously in the real world.

What you people think here is entirely irrelevant anywhere where serious people live.

Says the guy who argues with people on the internet. :)

ISIS has lost 98 percent of the territory it held. Most of that happened this year.

I have lost 98% of my respect for the President. Most of that happened this year.

"Voting for" is not the same as admiring. People voted for her for many reasons, very few related to anything admirable she's done.

In any case, it's not a serious poll, and the results bear that out.

Says who? You? There are quite a few who would disagree with you on that (not me, I don't like her, but plenty others do). Both in votes for office and apparently polls measuring admiration, she beats Donny T both ways.

Obama's ROE say differently.

Negative.

Just stop. This is a very unoriginal line that has been played out ad nauseum. Next thing you know you're gonna start screaming for the long form birth certificate.

Isn't it great to have a president now that doesn't secretly sympathize with ISIS?

What commands or orders has Trump given to the troops that have made a difference?

Could the victory also be due to the fact other countries have stepped up, and the training of local soldiers is having an impact. Canada has trained and led a few thousand men in the past two years, a program begun under Obama.

But then right wing America always did paint the nation as the only one involved.

The idea that anyone would vote for trump as "most admired man" shows just low some people have gotten. Having a black man as president really ****ed up some people mentally it seems.

Admired and Trump in the same sentence is crazy talk, maybe tolerated, but even his voters can't actually admire the douche nozzle.

I can just imagine the look of partisan constipation on the faces of Trumplings as they read this, and impotently proclaim they don't really care. And then desperately search for something, anything, to post about HRC or Obama...as if it's political Preparation H. :)

As Trumps Approval Rating Sinks, Obama and Biden Are Becoming More Popular
As Donald Trump’s approval rating continues to plummet, Barack Obama and Joe Biden are only growing more popular.

With the first year of Trump’s presidency coming to an end and his approval rating sitting south of 40 percent, Trump is the most unpopular president at this point in the history of the presidency. Conversely, since leaving the White House, Obama’s favorability rating has jumped four points, with 63 percent of Americans viewing the 44th president favorably, according to a Gallup news poll from June. Obama’s favorability was at 59 percent at the end of his presidency, according to a Gallup poll taken between January 16 and 19, the days before Obama left office.

Also high on the list of things likely to infuriate Trump, a Fox News poll from November found Obama with a higher favorability rating than Trump in Alabama, one of the most conservative states in America. Obama recorded a 52 percent favorability rating in the ruby red state, while Trump’s sat at 49 percent.

Biden, too, has enjoyed a bump in popularity since his time in the White House. A new CNN poll out December 22, conducted by SSRS, found Biden’s favorability rating at 57 percent, 20 points higher than Trump’s 37 percent. The poll put Biden’s unfavorability at just 27 percent. The last iteration of the SSRS poll, released in late 2015 while Biden was still in office, found his favorability at 51 percent, while his unfavorability sat at 37 percent, 10 points higher than his current standing.

President Trump Is the Second-Most Admired Man in America | Time

Donald Trump may be the current president, but in terms of who Americans most admire, his predecessor and the person he beat in the 2016 election top the list.

Barack Obama edged his successor as the most admired man for 2017, a Gallup poll finds, marking the first time since 2008 when a sitting president didn’t win the annual accolade. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is the woman Americans most admire for the 16th year in a row.

It was a close race. Seventeen percent of those surveyed named Obama as the man they most admire, to 14 percent for Trump. To no surprise, there was a wide partisan split, with 35 percent of Republicans saying Trump was most admired man of the year, and 39 percent of Democrats picking Obama.

Americans most admire the last president. He helped our economy by reversing the downward economic trend & helping to create an economy that put over 15 million people back to work (see graphic attached).

Oh, man. That is going to sting. :)

Yes. Says me. (and many others).

No need to lapse back into Anti-trump mode. I didn't say he deserved to be on top either. The fact that Trump, Obama, and Clinton made the list show how flawed it was.

You're taking him to the deep end of the pool on this one, careful or he'll drown. It's not dissimilar to those who claimed he "fixed the economy" in the first 90 days of his Presidency. Reason and fact are an elusive foe to the Turmpling.

I always find it funny when certain Trump supporters get on here and make grandiose proclamations about 45's military prowess. This is not the first time I've seen them give him credit for ISIS losing ground. As if nobody fired a single shot that hit a target prior to Trump getting elected and then all of a sudden the full power of the U.S. military was brought to bear to smite ISIS! It would be so funny if it weren't so tragic.

There you go again. You only think it's flawed because you don't agree with the results. Transparent.

To an extent, yes. Again, this is a forum where you post your opinion. Why do you think it's valid?

Again -- none of these individuals is worthy of great admiration. The fact that three politicians came out on top shows that it was flawed.

And yes - Hillary coming out as the most admired woman is just silly.

We actually have someone in office who isn't an enemy sympathizer.

Wrong. I hear Putin sent Donnie knee-pads for Christmas.

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Dec. 4-11, 2017, with a random sample of 1,049 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton Retain Most Admired Titles

1. I find it hard to believe in a poll that asks only 1049 people out of all the people in the U.S. and then claim that "Americans most admire". 1049 people DO NOT represent what most Americans think.

2. I also find it hard to believe in a poll that says Hillary Clinton is more admired than Michelle Obama, or anyone else in the U.S.

Edit: Add a #3. I can believe Obama is most admired, but not that Trump is 2nd most admired.

Do you really think the opinions of 1049 people represent the entire US?

Gallup Poll

For more than 70 years, Gallup has built its reputation on delivering relevant, timely, and visionary research on what humans around the world think and feel. Using impeccable data, our advisers assist leaders in identifying and monitoring critical economic and behavioral indicators that are vital to their strategic plans.

No other organization captures the human need to share opinions and the breadth of the human spirit like The Gallup Poll. Since 1935, The Gallup Poll has chronicled reactions to the events that have changed our world -- and in turn, those reactions have shaped who and what we are today. Today, The Gallup Poll continues to be a reliable source of intelligence for a changing world. Our data often answer the questions that are "top of mind" with leaders around the globe. Through its offices worldwide, Gallup measures public opinion and attitudes on virtually every political, social, and economic issue. Its data reach the highest levels of government, the judiciary, business, and academia.

Gallup has committed the next century to achieving a global endeavor of peerless magnitude, integrity, and strategic value -- the Gallup World Poll. Gallup's World Poll continually surveys the well-being, behaviors, and attitudes of the world's citizens in more than 130 countries and areas -- from the steppes of Central Asia to the savannahs of Africa -- and provides a new access point to the voices, hearts, and minds of samples representing 95% of the Earth's adult population. Worldwide core questions, as well as region-specific questions, are asked across countries over time, which enables leaders to compare data and spot emerging social and economic trends.

Globalization requires leaders to scrutinize how their nations, economies, and organizations not only fit into the dynamic global landscape, but also promote growth and create partnerships. The World Poll provides these insights by continually measuring key indicators such as Leadership, Law and Order, Food/Shelter, Work, Economics, Health, Well-Being, Migration, Environment, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Engaged Citizens and demonstrating their correlations with world development indicators such as GDP and Brain Gain.

These indicators assist leaders in understanding the broad context of national interests, establishing organization-specific correlations between leading indexes and lagging economic outcomes, and identifying trends key to their strategic plans.

So? Answer the question. Do you really believe the opinions of 1049 people represent the entire U.S. A simple yes or no will do.

Do you really think the opinions of 1049 people represent the entire US?

I take it you never studied statistics.

I take it you never studied statistics.

I actually did. And 1049 people is not a good representation of the opinions of the entire population of the US.

I'm sorry you accept that it is.

There are a lot of polling companies but I trust Gallup to have used a statistically relevant group of people to have reached the conclusions they posted. So, yes. They have been doing this for over 70 years & they have succeeded because they produce good product. Apparently you just disagree with their results. So do your own poll: open the phone book & call 1,049 people in different areas of the country. No concentration in big cities or Flyover country.

I think that a polling group of 1049 carefully selected can represent the entire group.

If Trump had come out on top would there be a problem?
