Surprised it took this long. PJ's pizza sales have been going down since he made his comments regarding kneeling in protest. Who knew that you would lose your job if you made racially divisive comments?

He also publicly opposed Obamacare, saying that if Obamacare passed, he'd have to raise the prices of his pizzas by twenty-five cents to pay for health care for his employees. Twenty-five cents! The horror!

(and I've never paid for a single slice of PJ's pizza because of what he said)

I have tried Papa John's Pizza twice & both times it really sucked; I get FROZEN pizza from Morelli's that is waaaaaaaaay better ..............

Yup. I protest with my wallet. I haven't bought his pizza in years, and this happening to him simply proves that many vote with their wallets.

What racist comment?

I for one also do not support or like the NFL players kneeling during the Anthem. What the players do on their own time is up to them. They can protest all they want.

Guess Superfly would say I also have a "racist" view.

Time to go purchase a Papa John pizza. imo, they are not bad, but no better than some of the other chain pizza places.

Smart move for any ceo to get out of their buisiness if it's sales are attached to the popularity of the nfl. Nfl numbers are down at least 15% this season alone and it's not looking like that will change this season. Between this season and last nfl viewership is down about 25%. He is smart to cut and run as its only going to continue to decline given their position. Can't wait to hear how the left is going to rationalize these numbers to the sponors of the superbowl.

I have never tried any of the chain pizza stuff. I grew up in the NYC Metro area where you could get authentic Italian pizza made by real Italians. Same here in suburban Phila.

They are losing money because they are the most expensive of the chains

We have a couple of New Yorkers who retired here who make a pretty damn good pie. Far sight better than any chain places. Sure miss those foldable slices, though, like you could get in NY.

I have never been a big fan of Papa John's. The personal politics of a company's CEO really doesn't factor in much with me when I choose to buy their products or services. I just don't think their pizza is that good.

That said, I know a lot of people that prefer it.

All of that is better than the chain stuff but not nearly as good as what we have here in Chi-town.

You're not missing anything. PJs isn't even good by chain pizza standards.

As long as the NFL owners don't have a problem with players kneeling, then it's not up to you as to whether you support them or not. They are guaranteed by the 1st amendment the right to say what they want.

John Schnatter is also guaranteed the right to say what he wants.

Thing is, freedom of speech is not absolute. You can say whatever you want (for the most part). However, you have to live with the consequences. Schnatter's consequences are falling numbers in a business he literally built from the ground up. So he is now facing the consequences of his 1st amendment right to belittle players who kneel for equality, and he is also facing consequences of blaming his failing pizza sales on the NF****ingL.

It doesn't take an Einstein to know that a business steers away from supporting one political side. You may gain a few customers but will probably lose 50% of the population.

Dropping down as CEO still doesn't change that they have basically cardboard with some cheap cheese and fat smeared over it cut in pie shapes.

They have to in order to provide their employees all those benefits the left demands

You know, in terms of mass produced kitschy American pizza, I have to admit I have a huge soft spot for Papa John's. Even though it's been years since I've had it, I do really enjoy it on occasion. But the CEO was a real asshole. I'm not sorry at all that he's paying a price for being a Right-wing ****basket.

Don't forget the sugar. They had the sweetest pizza sauce I'd ever tasted. Yuck.
