Rosie O’Donnell offered $2 million in cash to senators willing to vote against tax reform

Masterful trolling.

Yeah... just because Democrats do it... it’s OK.

A lot like the perversion of the DoJ, FBI, State, and IRS... what’s a little corruption... so long as it’s our guys doing it.

zimmer, according to you the Democrats are the ones who do everything and are everything wrong with this country. When in fact, the GOP, I would argue is more tranparently bought and paid for then the Democrats.

I'm just curious what your position on Citizen's United is? The right wing talking point is that money=speech. So, if you agree with the right on Citizen's United, you have to agree here, that Rosie is just using her voice, and any limit on her bribing politicians is an infringement on her 1st amendment rights.

That is living in La-La land but, in order to protect the oligarchy one must.

I dunno. I gotta see if she meant it as just saying "clearly you politicians are whores... here's some money" or if she was actually offering it as quid pro quo. Hard to tell from that tweet.

You, not I, made the comparison to contributions to a PAC. It was clear from the tweet that the offer of money was conditional upon casting a vote against a specific bill - that is far different from a contribution to a PAC.

Masterful trolling.

I see you are stumped for a reply.

You position is noted.

Thank you for your participation.

Despite the tweet I highly doubt that federal charges will result. This will be treated like Madonna's BS about "thinking of blowing up the White House".

Yeah, the thing I like about it is that if Flake and Collins were considering voting no Rosie essentially tied their hands by tying a no vote to a potential felony.

PACs are legal. If you don’t think they are or should be, then elect people to Congress to change the law. If you fail there and go to the SCOTUS, as has been done, then make a case for PACs to be illegal.

Your side has equal opportunity to raise money and use it to spread your message. There are laws and restrictions on these PACs, of which you are surely familiar. If they are broken... throw the book at the criminals... on any side.

As for Rosie McDonald’s... she tried to bribe two US Senators. That is a felony.

As for Democrats... yes... they are the root of most of our problems. 65 Trillion of unfunded liabilities and 20 Trillion of debt are not the product of Limted Government.

So, do you agree with the decision that money=speech?

Money=Speech,

this is the country we live in. Bribery is an American hallmark tradition. I see nothing to cry about when we live in a Democracy that is up for sale, legally.

It's absolutely terrible isn't it? We've turned speech into just another quantifiable thing. Why do businesses have more freedom of speech than citizens? Bribery is a human tradition. It's a part of our darker nature that we are supposed to fight against and not embrace. We are in the midst a moral crisis.

I might just go speak to a woman later and convince her to have sex with me by paying her lots of money.

To be fair, that is a thing.

If I want to broadcast a political message on TV, radio, in print (digitally or physically)... it costs money... does it not?

Yes. But politicians also vote the way their largest donors want them to.. do they not?

Businesses are owned and run by people. They do not have a right to spend their money as they see fit?

I suppose you would like to prohibit them advertising their wares too?

Why is it Leftists have such a fear of speech? Is it because when speech is free, they have difficulty spreading their lies?

Hillary Clinton’s accepting bribes at State doesn’t seem to bother Democrats much. I’d say Leftists have a moral crisis... because they don’t have much in the way of morals.

To be fair, that is a thing.

Haha, indeed it is.

I sought to show the absurdity of the money=speech thing.

That is my reply. Rosie has trolled you guys pretty good.

Here's what should make you guys mad: even taken at face value, her tweet would never result in a conviction of a senator. She didn't actually say "i'll give you money in exchange for a vote on this bill." House and Senate ethics investigations into bribery are so narrow in their criteria that the laws are essentially meaningless.

Perhaps some do, some of the time... because it is the way they lean too.

You do recall, Bush43 received a significant amount of cash from ENRON? He didn’t bend to their requests. Now... if it was Clinton...

If you find a corrupt politician, then run a campaign to run him or her out of office. Did not seem to work to well for Democrats in NY with Hillary Clinton. Or Charlie Rangel. But I’m sure your party will have ample opportunities to set an example.

Donations are a form of bribery, so is voting for the person whom you think does your bidding. Both are legal within limits. Trying to buy a vote?

Rosie McDonald’s bribery attempt should be made an example of. It’s a felony.

And we should all forget about Cornyn's bribe to Corker that got him to change his mind and vote for it. I read you like a book.

So when Donald Trump bragged about bribing Democrats (like himself) for votes, he committed a felony?

She’s the ideal face of the Democrat Party; Angry, Misinformed and Arrogant.. I love it when she sticks her bobble-head in the middle of things.

The ENTIRE Republicans donor network told the ENTIRE GOP that if they DO NOT pass tax cuts they will revoke their funding.

That is the same as what Rosie did.

Well... I looked for it in the NYT... nada... WaPo... has not come up with an answer. CNN... nada... other GIMPs (Goebbels Inspired Media Propagandists)... nada.

This would have been a great club to bash Republicans with... if true. Or?

Rosie McDonald’s effort was an overt bribe.

PS. Keep turning the pages, you seem to have a lot to learn.
