Newly released documents obtained by Fox News reveal that then-FBI Director James Comey’s draft statement on the Hillary Clinton email probe was edited numerous times before his public announcement, in ways that seemed to water down the bureau’s findings considerably.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, sent a letter to the FBI on Thursday that shows the multiple edits to Comey’s highly scrutinized statement.


In an early draft, Comey said it was “reasonably likely” that “hostile actors” gained access to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email account. That was changed later to say the scenario was merely “possible.”


Another edit showed language was changed to describe the actions of Clinton and her colleagues as “extremely careless” as opposed to “grossly negligent.” This is a key legal distinction.

I think this further shows how biased and corrupt the investigation was, and I do believe it should be re-opened, examined, and a special counsel created to investigate for any political corruption at play to protect Clinton. Things like this should spark national outrage.

And then when that investigation exonerates Clinton what will you do, ask for a special counsel to investigate the special counsel, that investigated the FBI?
 
I always suspected they tilted the needle from just on the side of criminal to just on the side of not; to cater to political realities. Hillary should have been sunk with criminal charges and the DNC corruption, and Bernie the candidate.

This is what happens when you cheat and get caught, the Trump administration is going to find out next. Good thing Comey is gone now too, Trump did him and the FBI a favor by firing him earlier. :shock:

What I found most disturbing was the goofy idea that since no other "high ranking" public employee was ever charged for exhibiting gross negligence (or being extremely careless) in handling classified material that the law is then not applicable to such "high ranking" folks. It is clear that the same law has been applied to "non-high ranking" government personnel and that it is not the job of the FBI to decide what evidence is sufficient to bring charges or whether a law applies to "high ranking" folks as well as others.
 
James Comey no doubt has a pithy and pretentious tweet lined up for us following this news.

The same people that edited his original draft ( which was emailed weeks before Hillary and her cronies were questioned ), used Democrat funded opposition research ( dossier ) to start a investigation into Russia / Trump collusion and to obtain FISA warrants to unmask and spy on Trump and his campaign
 
Dealing with Fox, one has to dig a bit deeper.

Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, the Republican chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said he had obtained from the FBI a copy of Comey’s original draft with proposed line-by-line edits from other FBI officials. It’s not clear from the document which official suggested what changes, though many were incorporated into Comey’s July 5 announcement.

Comey didn't really get "caught" until just now. This combined with the texts thing might be enough to get the ball rolling. If it does it could lead to something. You can't challenge the FBI based on suspecting they acted improperly with the Clinton investigation. That might change now.

The investigation didnt exonerate Hillary Clinton, Obama and few corrupt high level FBI officials exonerated Hillary Clinton.

The Obama administration will go down as one of the most corrupt administrations in US history, and quite a bit of that corruption can be directly tied to trying to cover up for Hillary dlinton, who wound up losing anyway

I hope saving Hillary was worth trashing his legacy

I do not think that Comey exonerated Hillary in July. He laid out the things she did wrong. He also refused to criminalize the political process,which I agree with.

Yes, life is not fair. Everyone does not get treated the same.

The fix was in before the investigation started,
  • as evidenced by the fact that the part of the statue Hillary did offend carries no intent requirement, that was just made up by Comey
  • as evidenced of the draft memos that Strzok edited
  • as evidenced that those memos were drafted before Hillary was even interviewed
  • as evidenced that Hillary wasn't even sworn when she was interviewed
  • as evidenced that that Hillary's interview wasn't recoded
  • as evidenced that Hillary's staff received immunity deals (do innocent people get immunity deals? - didn't think so)
  • as evidenced that Hillary's and her staff's electronic devices were pulverized
  • as evidenced that Hillary and her staff deleted emails that were under subpoena, without any repercussions
  • as evidenced that Department of State and Hillary made a deal where far more than what is normally released and made public after her term, remains unobtainable (what are they hiding anyway?)
  • And a long, long list of many other inconsistencies and failures

Don't think that Comey had a choice when additional emails were found on Huma's perv's laptop. I think it was the case that he couldn't squash that.

Yeah, I think the fix was in from the git go.

Ive always said the Obama administration was exceedingly corrupt, but wow.
Now there's direct evidence of collusion between the Obama DOJ, Christopher Steele, Fusion GPS, the Hillary campaign and the DNC to fund and produce opposition research that was then used to obtain FISA warrants to spy on Trump and his campaign staff prior to a election

Makes Watergate look like small change
