The thing that has been missing from the current moral panic over sexual assault is a close examination of the accusers and the evidence. It think it is reasonable to insist on this.

Enjoying it and accepting it as part of reality, both current and even past, are two separate things. Sometimes freedoms come with negatives, in this case freedom of speech and freedom of the press. I would not give up those freedoms though simply because some people would abuse such things and tell lies. It is on the individual voter to determine what they believe.
