Female Democratic senators to Al Franken: Resign

November 15th, right after the allegations against Moore broke:

What all 52 Republican senators say about embattled Alabama candidate Roy Moore - ABC News

Versus six Senate Democrat women (out of 48 Dem Senators). Well after the allegations continued to pile up.

If you're going to try to make that comparison, at least make sure it's a favorable one beforehand.

Let's make a comparison.

23 of 47 Democratic Senators have publicly called on Franken to resign.

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/06/full-list-senators-call-for-al-franken-to-resign-282175

The President of the United States (and leader of the Republican Party) and the Republican National Committee are fully and publicly endorsing Roy Moore.

Now tell me, who looks good in that comparison? I'll give you a hint. It isn't the Republican Party. And it definitely isn't the President.

IMHO, both are guilty. Franken from what I understand has a news conference scheduled for Thursday. I fully expect him to resign
The Hill has been a haven for those that sexually harassed many women. The Democrats are getting out in front of this and doing something.
And Moore should be turfed, as I am sure he will be elected.

I agree; both are guilty. But how are the Democrats "out in front" on this, and "doing something"?

Sure, 23, today. After weeks of this. Compared to all the Republican Senators who called for Moore to step aside pretty much immediately. What took them so long to do it?

The President is a slobbering embarrassment. But the President isn't the topic here -- the Senate cleaning its own house is.

I just look to Roy Moore and the Presidents endorsement and RNC releasing funds to his campaign.

After weeks of accusations against Moore, and more accusers coming forward, the RNC and the President threw the full power of their support behind Moore.

That doesn't answer the question. The question was how Democrats are "out in front" and "doing something."

A number of Senate Democrats called for Franken's resignation weeks after the allegations started coming in.

A number of Senate Republicans called for Moore to step aside immediately after the allegations about him started coming in.

So, what's your definition of "out in front," and "doing something"?

I don't see the DNC calling for Franken to resign. I see a bunch of Senate Democrats who dragged their feet for weeks hoping it would all blow over, and then finally called for his resignation when they figured out it wasn't going to, led by six women, whom a bunch of the men only THEN fell in behind. Compared to the Senate Republicans who called for Moore to step aside immediately, and by all accounts are ready to institute proceedings to expel him from the Senate if he's elected.

Conyers is gone, Franken is next, if he does nor resign it will go the the ethics committee, then regardless of result the Senate could/can vote on expulsion.
I am sure there would not be a shortage of votes.

What exactly do you want the Republican Senators to do? They called upon Moore to step aside; the National Republican Senate Committee cut off funding to him; McConnell and others have said it's likely they'll institute proceedings to expel Moore if he's elected. And they did this within days, not weeks. They can't fire him as a candidate. So, what else do you want?

I am disgusted that Trump endorsed him. At one point a few weeks ago, a number of Republicans were calling for his head. Now they are silent. Do not want to upset Trumps base. Even McConnell has backtracked.

IMHO, he will be elected, then we see what the Senate does.

Which may hold an ethics investigation, may go to a Senate vote, but he would not be expelled.

So am I.

Which Republicans have changed their position on Moore?

IMHO, he will be elected, then we see what the Senate does.

Yeah, and we'll see what Franken does, and if there's a call to expel him if he doesn't resign.

Which may hold an ethics investigation, may go to a Senate vote, but he would not be expelled.

See, that's just what you want to think in order to convince yourself that the Democrats are taking a higher road. But the Republicans were way ahead of the Democrats' "getting out ahead."

You see more than half of the sitting Democrats calling for him to resign. As of right now. More than half.

Then you see the RNC supporting Moore, and the President of the United States - the leader of the party - supporting him.

That's a fact.

I'll bet he's going to resign, Doggy.

How's the pup today?

You might be right:

Senator Amy Klubochar
Sexual harassment is unacceptable. This morning I spoke with Senator Franken and, as you know, he will be making an announcement about his future tomorrow morning. I am confident he will make the right decision.

Embattled Sen. Al Franken will make an announcement Thursday, his office told reporters, as calls for the Minnesota Democrat's resignation rapidly gained momentum Wednesday in dramatic fashion.

Sure. After weeks. After it was clear it wasn't going away. Compared to the more than half of sitting Republicans who said Moore should step aside, within days of the allegations.

Why did the Democrats wait until today to do it?

I guess that's what you're going to fixate on, and ignore everything else, and all the Republicans far and wide who have condemned Moore.

Your hatred of Trump doesn't mean you can't also recognize that the Senate Republicans stepped up and did what they should have done, immediately, at a much faster pace than did the Democrats with Franken.

I'd bet my virginity on it, but since that was been gone 35 years and 3 kids ago, I'll bet a candy bar on it. Franken is gone. And good riddance.

ROFLMAO, yeah, I can relate.

Now just two more to go, Moore and Kihuen.

Oh stop with the "your hatred of Trump" tripe. I don't hate the man. I don't even know him. Do you love him? You must, right?

The Republicans are now officially supporting Moore. That isn't up for debate. The RNC and the President. End of story.

The Republicans look even worse than they have since Trump has taken office. This is going to hurt them down the road, and anyone with half a brain and with even a slight interest in them keeping their majorities knows that.

Yeah but Moore will be coming in. Ish. They replace one perv with another. One asshole with twisted politics with another. Dear God. We have 320 million people in this country - how the hell have we gone so wrong with our politicians??

If you say so.

The Republican Senators are not. You want to lionize the Democrat Senators for finally doing something they dragged their feet on for weeks, something the Republican Senators did right away.

As for the DNC, as late as last week, Perez was declining to call for Franken's resignation, and only today, after the bandwagon got started, did he jump on.

Of course it will, but that's not THIS issue. And you want me to think your animus against Trump isn't clouding your thinking on this?

If you say so.

What do you have to say about the President and the RNC throwing their full support behind Moore? And besides Flake, which Republicans are still, almost a month later, telling people they oppose him coming to the Senate - a week before the election? Which ones?

My thinking isn't clouded. I'm a lifelong Republican, unlike that fraud in the Oval Office, and I have principles - which the Republican lawmakers, the RNC and the President don't. Stop making this about me. It's about their bad behavior.

What do you have to say about the President and the RNC throwing their full support behind Moore?

I think it sucks.

And besides Flake, which Republicans are still, almost a month later, telling people they oppose him coming to the Senate - a week before the election? Which ones?

What, they have to keep repeating themselves to prove themselves to you? Which ones have changed their positions on him?

My thinking isn't clouded. I'm a lifelong Republican, unlike that fraud in the Oval Office, and I have principles - which the Republican lawmakers, the RNC and the President don't. Stop making this about me. It's about their bad behavior.

THIS is very much about your refusal to acknowledge their good behavior (while above, actively trying to minimize it), and aggrandizing Democrats for taking weeks to do what the Republicans did within days.

So besides Flake, which ones are saying they reject Moore any more? None that I'm aware of. Certainly not the President or the RNC.

The Republicans within days called on Moore to step aside. Look how well that worked out, too. The President gives him an "atta boy, stay in it to win it", and then they are all silent. The RNC sends his campaign money, and they are still silent.

If you were a Republican you would be embarrassed by this.

Trump is embarrassing. What the Republican Senators have done is not. You are refusing, tooth and nail, to acknowledge what they did, and you're erecting all kinds of crazy hoops for them to do so.

Credit you're more than willing to extend to the Johnny-come-lately, feet-dragging Democrats.

All they can do is call on him to step aside. They can't actually MAKE him do it.

And, by the way, I'm NOT a Republican, and have not been since 1991.
