Conyers: "I am retiring today"

Rep. John Conyers announced that is he retiring today and he is putting together the plans for that.

"I am retiring today. And I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the support that...incredible, undiminished support I've received across the years of my supporters, not only in my district but across the country as well," Conyers said.​

He has not really been effective for several terms now and is but a shadow of what he once was. I also am glad to see him go and the contrast between how the GOP handles this sort of scandal is striking.

Not known yet. He went to the hospital the other day from the stress of the accusations so he seems to be leaving before it kills him. He's pretty old.

Amazing that you're still trying to play this game. Franken apologized, offered full cooperation with the probe, and his accuser said she did not think he should resign.

Conyers was in a different situation and resign.

The Hated "Hollywood Liberals" took down the accused "Hollywood liberals".

Trump and Moore just called the accusers liars.





And here you are playing a stupid debate board game, attacking people over Franken. I wish I could still find that kind of crap amazing.

I'm sure he has time to make arrangements for his accuser to be paid off at tax-payer expense. That slush fund set up so that victims of congressional misconduct can be paid must be a godsend for people like Conyers.

Trumps accusers are many and only a few have issues. His manner against women, history and own words, points to a lot of credibility to the accusations.

Coupled with that request was a full apology. Unlike the accused on the right, he did not call the woman a liar.



Why are people so invested in these stupid ****ing games? Sex-related crimes are just as bad no matter who does them, but the response sure hasn't been the same for each politician.

Hmmm...so the allegations...without any proof or having actually broken no laws...has hospitalized the old codger.
Somewhat like the Brit representative who committed suicide over unfounded accusations.

One proof that could be pointed out is that he used taxpayer money to apparently pay out hush money.

He paid settlements to the women who accused him. That says all I need to know right there.

It's called being responsible for one's actions. something repubs don't seem to do. He asked for an investigation, owned up to it, apologized and is cooperating with the investigation... How do repubs handle it? SHE'S A LIAR.. ALL 18 OF THEM! Then the sheep line up and say, "Well he says all 18 are liars... he's got my vote!"

Back to the gutter with you guys because the path to any moral high ground is clearly lost on the right. You all used to preach "personal responsibility" to everyone else. Allllll gone now.
