Rep. Conyers is retiring amid harassment allegations

Amazing that you're still trying to play this game. Franken apologized, offered full cooperation with the probe, and his accuser said she did not think he should resign.

Conyers was in a different situation and resign.

The Hated "Hollywood Liberals" took down the accused "Hollywood liberals".

Trump and Moore just called the accusers liars.

And here you are playing a stupid debate board game, attacking people over Franken. I wish I could still find that kind of crap amazing.

Well said. See, that's the problem with one trick ponies...they only have one trick. For me the part that's still amazing is that they are the only ones who appear to miss how sadly transparent it is.

There you go again with the false equivalency. Saying that Franken's handling of the accusations against him is better than Trump's or Moore's is not heaping praise on him. It's just stating a fact. Franken took responsibility for his actions, as was proper. Trump and Moore denied responsibility and slandered their accusers. Franken's reaction was responsible. Trump and Moore's reactions were abominable.
Franken did what he had to do. There was no other choice. He didn't make the "responsible" decision, he made the only decision.

Meanwhile, Trump and Moore still have their supporters.

Which is the point.
If that's the point, then why are you going on and on about Al Franken?

Franken did what he had to do. There was no other choice. He didn't make the "responsible" decision, he made the only decision.

Not so. He could have denied. In the picture there are shadows under his fingers. If he had actually been touching her, they wouldn't be there. The picture was a tasteless joke, not a grope. He could have denied it all. I will grant you that denial works much better for Republicans.

Whether he was touching her or not in the picture is irrelevant. It was deeply inappropriate behavior for which he had to apologize. Sure he could have denied that there was anything wrong with the behavior that was captured on camera, but his career would have been over instantly.

I've just told you why the picture is problematic, but by all means continue in your denials. It's what your side does.

Bull.

He could have said "well, I realize the picture might be offensive to some, but I actually didn't touch her. Mistakes were made. Also, she's lying about the kiss". He did the opposite.

Stop playing stuipd get-the-liberal games.

Yes, he could have said that, and he'd have zero supporters left - ending his career far sooner.

Meanwhile, Trump and Moore still have their supporters.

Why do you keep going on about Franken? Just trolling or something?

If you reread page 1 and 2 and see the exchange you jumped into the middle of with your anti-Franken crap, you might understand better.

Franken gone yet?

you have nothing to talk about.

He's busy being under investigation at his own request. So... your false equivalence is running thin.

It was going to happen anyway. Franken's so-called "request" is meaningless.

Ohhh....I see...poweRob was talking about the false equivalence that Rev was drawing. Then you jumped in to attack Franken specifically. No wonder!

Eighty-eight is too damned old to be serving in Congress. If you don’t understand why, you don’t interact with very many 88 year olds. Chances are he couldn’t even work at a McDonalds drive-thru.

A lot does depend on exercise and genetics though. My grandma was sharp as ever right up until she hit around 90.5, when she had to stop walking several miles a day (falls).

Still, I suppose she didn't then also try to put in a full congressional workday.

Dem sexual harasser heading out
Repub child molester heading in

You guys are going to have to find another false equivalence to bitch with.

Rep. Conyers is retiring amid harassment allegations

Conyers: "I am retiring today"

Rep. John Conyers announced that is he retiring today and he is putting together the plans for that.

"I am retiring today. And I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the support that...incredible, undiminished support I've received across the years of my supporters, not only in my district but across the country as well," Conyers said.
Sure! Hell, 20 years after Clinton left office, leftists even found their conscience there too. Mind you...you still rushed to the polls with your slobbering support for his wife who spent 4 decades attacking his victims.

Man you guys are just all over this whole morality thing....like a ****in blanket. Way to go!

Canuck Senators serve till they're 75.
Then they go fishing and golfing...which is what they did mostly while in the Senate...so no retirement shock.
Its brilliant, eh?

OK I'd have to agree with that.
So the question then becomes, is this a witch-hunt or something worth ruining a person's life over?

I think we are at a precarious point where things could snowball and false allegations could ruin people. We do need a balance but we simply can't just keep on going ignoring victims as we have.

Moar false equivalence please. Because we all know bill clinton was a child molester too I guess you are saying?

The only people trying (and failing miserably) to practice equivocation is leftists. And hell...you yourself STARTED this thread about John Conyers...and when you get your nosed rubbed in your history you shriek Roy Moore! Roy Moore!

Like I said...its 2017...and leftists have finally found their moral conscience...and you actually want a ****in cookie. Way to go!

Indeed.
Maybe a modicum of common sense would be in order?
Like, when an elderly lady approaches some news agency with some idiotic allegation that some really old Senator touched her 20 some-odd years ago, that the media declare it a non-issue?
People do dumb ****. Always have and always will. Men, in particular, can be really fu%ked up.
But I do remember some older biker babes (and I use the term "babes" very loosely here...) trying to take advantage of my one buddy and I when I was about 16. I'm 55 now and OH MY GAWD...I am sooo emotionally scarred!

Common Sense...try it...its cool.

I'm glad he's gone for a lot of reasons.

This, however, is yet another bad thing for the Republicans. The Democrats and Liberals now toss aside their garbage, and the "new" Republican Party closes ranks around theirs. Amazing.

Good! Its good to show that some people take responsibility for what they have done.

Why is it that I can't shake the feeling that the citizens of Trump Fan Nation will read your post, reread it, and read it again, and still have no idea what "responsibility" means.

Common trolls should be with the kids...seen and not heard...

Personal responsibility is the mantra of the Republicans....of course, its just a mantra, the actual reality is: politics first, ethics and principle two hundred and eighty sixth...

The Grand Old Pedophile party.

When Moore wins, Repubs will be wearing that hat for a long time.

I've just told you why the picture is problematic, but by all means continue in your denials. It's what your side does.
People like you who dismiss such behavior as a "tasteless joke" are precisely why it's been allowed to go on for so long.
