Delray Beach, Fla. — Debbie Wesson Gibson was in her attic hauling out boxes of Christmas decorations last week when she noticed a storage bin she said she had forgotten about. Inside was a scrapbook from her senior year of high school, and taped to a page titled “Those Who Inspire” was a graduation card.

“Happy graduation Debbie,” it read in slanted cursive handwriting. “I wanted to give you this card myself. I know that you’ll be a success in anything you do. Roy.”

Roy Moore claims he never met her. However, proof has emerged, and it's in his own handwriting. Don't bother attempting to convince members of the Grand Old Pedophile party, though. They won't want to hear it, and will continue to support child molesters if those molesters have an R after their name. Let me take this one step further. Want to know how Jeffrey Dahmer screwed up and ended up in prison? He didn't become a Republican politician.

Age of consent is 16 in Alabama.

The Alabama legal Age of Consent for sexual contact is 16 years old. There are a total of thirty one states have set their age of consent at 16, the lowest age of consent in any state. The Age of Consent is the age at which a person is deemed by Alabama law to be capable of consenting to, and engaging in, sexual acts.

If it is LEGAL, as in authorized by LAW, then it is acceptable.

Don't like it? Change the law. End of story.

Even if this is Legal, the GOP are insisting they rather vote for the 30 year old guy with a Pontiac Firebird that hangs out in Highschool Parking lots over a *shudders* Democrat.

I saw a brief clip of her interview and found it compelling. Especially as she wasn't claiming the relationship was inappropriate.

The bottom line is it doesn't matter how many women come forward or what evidence they can produce that contradict Mr. Moore's denials, his supporters will never believe anything other than what Mr. Moore claims. I wish that people would pause and try to sift through the information from both sides but the country's moral compass seems to be a bit bent these days.

The law doesn't 'authorize' anything. It proscribes behaviour that is so objectionable that it must be punished. I know that in some backward places laws allow things that more advanced people deplore but that doesn't make it any less unethical. You have some examples just going from state to state, but just look from country to country for more examples. If an American travels to a foreign country and does something that's legal there but a felony in America, is he still electable?
Lying isn't a crime. If Moore lied about knowing the girl, is he still electable?

If that's the guy who is running and the only valid opposition is a member of a Party you oppose?

You'd refuse to vote, or vote "third party" in protest, even if it allowed the opposition to get the office and determine your State's goals in the Congress for 6 years, just to spite the "bad candidate." :roll:

No I think the majority of Moore's supporters believe he had relationships with teenage kids. They just feel that electing an evil Democrat to the Senate is worse that electing a child molestor. It's a case of misguided values.

Legal standards are always lower than moral standards. I think the issue is that Moore was a creep (and now that he is an over-the-top Christian, he is a hypocrite, but that is another discussion).

Until recently, we tended to weigh fitness for office on a moral standard. With Trump, we accepted the fact that voters have no moral standards for their leaders. While this is a rather sad commentary on American society, it is what it is.

That said, America is not sustainable as a free democracy when the voters tolerate low-lifes as leaders.

Actually, that law does authorize anyone who is 16 years of age to make a decision about who they voluntarily wish to engage in sex with, without any legal consequences accruing to either party.

As for the rest of your post? Be welcome to your ideals of morality, but don't assume everyone is going to agree with everything you believe in, or that all your views on morality are factually or objectively correct. :shrug:

This is not about sex. There are no allegations from this woman that they engaged in sex.

It looks like Moore was looking for a life partner, but didn't find one until later in his life.

This is about dating somebody, and even though today the word dating is synonymous with ****ing, it wasn't always so.

It's not that Alabama GOP voters don't believe anything other than what Mr. Moore claims, it's that they despise liberals/Democrats so much they'll vote for him any way. They consider a Democrat 1000 worse than a 30+ year old man chasing high school teenagers. Party over Country and morals.

Seriously though, he is the candidate. Where is the proof he lied about anything?

To the best of my knowledge he has simply denied the allegations, which have yet to be proven true.
