It depends on whether or not there is strategy behind the various withdrawals and should there be one, what it is.

The specific details of the immigration compact don't appear to be available, however the United Nations cannot be trusted for any sort of global policy.

The US already has its own policy for immigration. Anything contrary to that should be rejected.

Any treaty or agreement with other nations undermines sovereignty and one that involves migration even moreso.

But it does not.. 1) it aint a treaty. 2) it is a non binding resolution 3) it strives for countries to work together to make sure the rights of refugees are respected and that large migration situations are worked on together.

Not necessarily. Treated as a communal challenge and in deed considering the externalities of the instabilities refugees cause make a global regimen seem sensible.

One of the main problem with these agreements is that they are not treaties, binding and enforced. Without that they are only good as alibis and do more harm by fostering a free riding atmosphere.

Non binding agreements are politically stupid and are lastly only good as alibis in domestic and politics and in international meetings. When I was doing development economics we looked at this with respect to foreign aid. The pledges that were mostly not honored over the decades and made planing for the recipients more difficult and for fulfilling pledges, when others do not or use the donations to evade non tariff trade agreements like the wto. This does damage to the honest donors.

But that wasn't the question. Or are you saying you read the document and couldn't see any issues of sovereignty?
